I recently moved to android, and got a HTC Desire S.
I have a pc running windows 8 64bit.

HTC Sync wont install, and a search on google tells me HTC sync is confirmed not to work with Windows 8.

So, next step to try to get my pc to recognise my android phone as more than just a usb device was to install the android sdk. that still did not work.

Any ideas how to get htc/android drivers installed on windows 8?

Shouldn't need additional drivers. Skip using HTC Sync. See if the PC will connect to the phone and read it as a simple mass storage device, as if it was reading a USB stick.

It is recognised as a mass storage device. But im trying to upgrade to IceCream Sandwich, and the installer tells me it cant see the phone, even when connected, making me think it needs the actual drivers installed.
