Root Development progress on Cyanogenmod7/9/10 Updated: 5/10

GiantPune has had practically all CM builds booting. I just went back and specifically read that he had CM9 booting all the way up to the launcher, lock screen. There was just a bunch of other problems so he didn't upload it. I'm just wondering why we still have developers trying to work on just getting it to boot to home screen when it's already been accomplished. I can point you to the exact thread and post if you want.

Yes, I have crm9 building from source and booting up. Right now thats about all it does is boot up. You get a boot animation and then the launcher. If you wait a while, the screen goes off and you get the lock screen. Touchscreen works poorly, all the buttons work, no wifi, no audio, no bluetooth, no phone.

There are no screenshots because, well, it looks identical to any other cm9 right when you boot it up. There is no download link because I'm not about to upload several hundred MB if data just to prove that it kinda works.

I think you all should start working with Pune a little more, just my 2 cents

well, a device tree for cm9 would be a good starting point, if not, i can make one. trying to modify something that is already built won't get you anywhere.
most of the issues are at the source level

What does it take to get a device tree? I don't know much about this, do you need the device first?

Edit: never mind I just read a bunch about it.....definitely way to intensive for my lack of skill and no computer.

I certainly like all the activity here to try to get CM9 booting.
I hope with all the new interest they can get it up and running for us.
Every ones hard work is much appreciated in this matter.

MysteryEmotion, if you help contribute getting CM9 booting on the OE, I'd be glad to buy you a beer....

Where r you at now with getting it booting? Who's working on it? Where's there source?

This isn't a theming project, this is going to take a LOT of work on source level. And judging by your xda account, you don't really have experience with that. So far, the kernel is being looked at and I think gralloc is failing. Damn I need an elite.

Well...I'm no one with experience, but we've had developers successfully getting CM 7,9, and 10 booting. There's only one person I know of who has reported getting CM9 to boot all the way to launcher. I have no idea where any of these guys put their source codes up or device trees or anything. We've got a whole new team that came in trying to work on things. People working on this that I can remember being most active on this include, but are not limited to (because I will forget someone)

You might want to do your home work. I had the best froyo rom for the epic and a bunch of themes.. The first custom rom for the admire. I helper with cwm n Odin for the admire also. Now I'm currently working on the e730 n e739. I have a kernel n a rom. I'm working on getting cm10 for my device.

You want to question my skill I'll take it else where.

You can also find me on www.acsyndicate.net n www.AndroidInsomnia.com.

Let's all please step back from the edge, ok? :)

MysteryEmotion was asked to participate here by another thread member.

And asked or not - let's all please step back from the edge, ok? (see what I did there?)

If someone wants to help, let's try to work together. If they're not going to fit in, if they're any good (like the vast majority of contributors), they'll figure that out by themselves.

No need to get all wonky with credentials.

If you're a team leader or member on this rom, and want to discuss someone joining the team or not, that's best left to courteous private messaging, same as it always has been.

Everyone cool now? :)

Well guys, there is no way I'm getting an elite, unless it has a cracked screen and a bad ESN, which then I couldn't test sms/calling/ril etc. My max is too low. Donations would help, but I hate to take money from people I don't know, especially when there isn't a complete chance of getting it done. If I had ten more dollars, I could get it.
