My aunt is finally going to take my advice and purchase a Nexus 7.

She will be doing simple things with it. Such as browsing, email, etc.

Problem is that she is vision impaired. Looking for advice on any kind of screen reader, etc. she can purchase or use. Not even sure what the proper terminology is for this kind of stuff.

Thanks!

You can adjust the font size in most readers. If she's going to buy her books, I suggest starting out with Nook or Kindle reader apps. I prefer Nook books, because their books are in epub format and there are reader apps that can read them such as Mantano. If she is reading public domain books there are lots of choices including Mantano which I use.

Not sure about the stock ROM, but check Settings -> Accessibility. With the magnification option active, she should be able to triple tap and hold the screen to get a temporary magnified view of the area where her finger is.

Would that help?

It will. But she keeps mentioning seeing screen readers on tablets on the news. Just want to make sure I steer her away from a dreaded ipad which may be able to do this.
