I love android. Sure, I would love to have itunes syncing as seamless as the iphone, but the efficient multitasking and open source nature make android a winner in my book.
One thing I hate about android is the lack of legitimate backup. For my old iphone, if I got a replacement phone, everything could be restored back to how it was through itunes. If the same thing happens on my droid, I have to add all my apps back to their spots on the homescreen, reconfigure widgets and settings, and even have to redownload all of my apps.
This, combined with the lack of tech support for android, gives me a big headache. I now have an issue where my keyboard no longer makes noise. I call verizon and their solution: factory reset. I would do it, but I just do not want to go through the hassle of reconfiguring.
So, my question is this: What are the risks if all I want is to root simply in order to have a full phone backup to the SD card? I do not want a new rom or anything, just the ability to fully backup EVERYTHING on the phone and obviously be able to easily restore from that backup. How would I do this?
Thank you!
