I am only starting to realise how awesome we have it down here with the cellphone providers in the super messed up RSA.

We used to have 1 or 2 very minor issues with cellphone locking to a specific carrier (Like Vodacom COUGH COUGH SPLUTTER SPLUTTER COUGH COUGH) but we never had entire lock downs on every thing left right and center!

That is just insane and I we never get that madness here... that is for sure!

In SA we don't have to pay another R10 000 just to unlock the freaking garage door you bought at the hardware store... we don't have to pay another 10000000 rands just to unlock your fridge door as well...

There used to be minor locking of crud like that but now there is the new "Consumer Protector Act" (Which NO COMPANY FOLLOWS AT ALL AND JUST THE CRAZY MONOPOLIES JUST RUN RAMPANT... most of the monopolies are run by our glorious gubbermint... yay for us!)

A lot of people say we have one of the best wireless networks in the whole world apparently because our gubbermint has so seriously screwed up the gubbermint owned and ONLY telephone LAN line service... (OH MY GOD EVERYONE HATES "Tellkom" here! Horrible bastard monopoly by gubbermint... Everyone calls them HELLKOM)

God I love free Enterprise in SA where NO ONE is allowed to own a telecommunication "license" (I don't know why you need a license but this is obviously waaaay above my tiny brain and I must not ask questions against the flawless gubbermint!!) defy the glorious and perfect gubbermint of insane extreme racism!

We are the "Rape Capitol" of the universe but hey... at least we got cell towers that work hey!

Stroking or petting reminds them of the way mama cat groomed them as kittens. Our cats have been bred to keep mostly kitten-type behavior to keep us liking them. (Yes, kittens hunt. ) The only cat that packs is the Lion. All the rest are solitary after kittenhood. My kid has 5 moggies and I have 3. Could not do that had they evolved along a normal track.

Food and care domesticated them, same as dogs. Animals ain't dumb on the food side.

Cats, ferrets, skunks and snakes are the best way to keep rats out of granaries. The Egyptians also used ferrets. We had a bird seed scare years ago. One mfg was putting a poison into the bird food to control rats and vermin.

Oh my yes, exactly...I feel the same way. That uncomfortable silence when talking to my dad. We're not really close, and don't talk that much and when we do talk on the phone there are times of awkward silence....

There's also a gender issue: seems many women feel that any call shorter than 10 minutes is rude, consequently when my missus wants to ask a friend quick question she'll send her an SMS rather than call

I mean: you call. You ask. They answer. You say your thank yous. You hang up.

How is that not quicker than texting .. particularly when you text as slow as me ..

Oh man im the exact same. The mobile phone is one of my favourite inventions but talking on it i hate talkin on the phone lol even to my closest peeps. Every second is painful to me.
Text messages are another of my favourite inventions lol. In my single days they were a god-send to me. I can flirt much better with my thumbs than my mouth (ahem lol) and im a VERY fast texter

And my dad!! I hate being in a room alone with him and i hate when i ring my mum and he answers lol... painful awkwardness

Im gona extend this rant to cover small talk lol. Like when you meet someone you kinda know that isnt a friend on the train and you both feel the need to chat throughout the journey when if you were both honest, youd rather just put your headphones on and ignore each other lol..... humans!
