I love my new s4 as I recently switched from an iphone. the best phone I have ever owned, good one Samsung! however, the battery life is rubbish. My iphone 4 lasted a hell of a lot longer than this. I can understand it might not last AS long as the screen is bigger and the phone is a lot more powerful and needs more battery power, however, I lose percentage ever 2-3 minutes and I don't think that's normal for such a great phone. can anyone give me ideas on how to improve the battery life? ( I've already drained the battery and recharged fully)

Can you tap the screen entry from that photo and show us what the screen on time is?

What brightness setting are you on?

Screen is always going to be your biggest battery eater. Lowering the brightness can help that tremendously.

Since the screen is larger than the iPhones, it takes a lot more power.

Coming from an iphone to android, i think you will always notice such a huge difference. I done exactly the same.

Dare i say it but ios is a lot more power friendly as it only has to work on 3 different phones whereas android has to be a lot broader in its approach.

There are multiple different things you can do to conserve power like make sure your brightness is as low as possible. Switch the screen off manually when not using it instead of waiting for it to sleep.

Facebook is a notorious battery drainer, it might be worthwhile deleting the app and creating a shortcut on your home screen to the website if you use it a lot.

All in all though, what you are experiencing is perfectly normal. You'll get used to it eventually though! On the plus side though, you can swap out you S4 battery, couldnt do that with an iphone!

I'd like to add, make sure you have all the S features off if your not using them. Tell us what your own screen time is as well. If you play a lot of games, that will drain the battery pretty fast as well. For me using around 3+ hrs of on screen time using auto brightness, I get 12 to 14 hrs with around 20% battery left. All my S features are office except Smart Stay.

I have never gotten better battery life than with this S4, coming from a DInc and a Rezound. I have most of Sam's air gestures and moves and such turned on. Of course I'm a light to moderate user when I'm home, having 50% of my battery left at the end of the day. When I'm travelling and using it heavily, I still have enough to do what I want through day and have 30% left.

Best thing to do is don't worry about it and charge it when you can. When I first left the iPhone I was stressing about the same thing. Finally I just gave up. You have to understand how much more resources the Android OS uses compared to iOS. Widgets, larger screens, and more bells and whistles than iOS could dream of is running in Android. iOS will always have better battery life than an Android phone unless you have the RAZR HD MAXX.

some people have told me because I'm that used to being on the apple platform that I can't get used to the battery on android so I guess that's why haha, but hey at least I don't have a dreaded iPhone anymore.

I can't believe nobody has told you this, but the biggest reason your iPhone 4 had better battery life is because it is a 3G phone. Since your S4 is 4G, it will use more battery due to radio switching and the sheer power demands of the 4G environment! That is the nature of the beast. That extra inch of screen size will have a big effect as well.

I'm a light to moderate user and usually have at least 60% left by day's end! So, as was stated before, buy yourself a spare battery and swap out if/when you run low (can't do that, Apple!).

Fire up that S4 and don't look back!

6023513[/URL]]how on earth did you get 2 days!?

Their screen time was only like 3 hrs or so for two days. I think the minimal screen on time is 2 to 4 hrs for the average user. (Mine is 3 hrs.) I have found that the screen and playing high intense games drains the battery the fastest. There are a lot of other features you can turn off to save battery as well.
