Most phones come with a film that covers a hard plastic protector over the screen.
This phone actually has Corning brand Gorilla glass which is a real bitch to scratch.
I actually spent almost a week trying to take that damn protector off, Lol. I hate those things that's one reason I only buy phones with gorilla glass, damn screen protectors scratch way too easy.

Don't believe me about the resiliece of the glass? Make a video of yourself scratching the screen with a house key, razor blade and fork. If you can scratch the screen without cracking it I'll swap phones with you or pay for a new screen.
If you press hard enough to crack the screen that's on you though.

I actually have 3 scratches on mine, and I don't even know how I did it.

I've never had dirt or sand on mine, just my hands.

I find that all my screens have gotten their scratches in my pockets or when accidentally set face down. With the fineness of the scratches that gorilla glass gets sand is really the only logical answer. You can't be certain that there is not a single evil grain anywhere at all times.

Yesterday. Keys in my pocket put a deep gouge in the glass. Bullshit. Anything ive had with gorilla glass gets beat to shit fast, id almost prefer plastic as it absorbs more shock without cracki ng and is far easier to replace the screen.

I regularly scratch at my screen with my keys and a serrated knife. o_O
Never had an issue. I get fine scratches if I carry my phone in my pocket at work but not like the old plastic screens used to get. Nothing that makes it hard to see.

Granted, I also change phones every few months.
