Swype avail for Eris

Ok I did that and now it is there but when I enable it all it does is blink blue at me and beep when I try to use it. I can press letters to get words but I can't swype.

Are you sure it's Swype? Even after you enable it, there is still another step.

Hold down the text box where you type. Then it will ask you for input method, select swype.

I did that too. It has done the same thing with all of the other links that I used to dl it from.

OK, just to confirm...
on your phone settings you have Swype selected as your keyboard?
Also, you pressed down on the text box and selected Swype as the input method?

And you cant Swype? Does the keyboard look different? or are you still on the stock keyboard?

Try this.
Uninstall it and reinstall it again. Seems like you're almost there... something just went wrong.

I know 2 people with the Moto Droid that used that same link, so it works

Was messing around with random apps today. Restarted the phone and it gave me an error saying swype will have limited capabilities. I love swype and cant go without it. I understand I can re-install it but I dont know how to un-install it first. Any help on how to fix this or un install it?

EDIT

nvm un-installed it. Sucks that i lost all my saved words. Anyone know why this error happened?

I am at my wit's end trying to get a working version of swype back on my phone (ERIS running 2.1)

I was getting the configuration error on my installed beta, so I uninstalled and redownloaded the installer as directed. I was getting "phone id does not match that provided during beta error however".

They reset my ID but when I downloaded and reinstalled I just started getting the configuration error again. Now I am back to the bad ID error.

What's a brother got to do to get a working beta APK on his Eris?

There's a new themed keyboard based on the latest Lite version. It's amazing.

droidkevlar: would you mind editing your original post to pop this info to the front?

[qr]Swype-Lite.1.16.12.5228.219.apk[/qr]

or: Swype-Lite.1.16.12.5228.219.apk

Below is sh0ebox's original post. Great work!

Hey guys

I recently compiled a MM theme for swype that skins it to look like the HTC_IME keyboard for the Droid (droid-life posted a blog about it a couple days ago).

Now, I am a Droid owner, but my girlfriend has an Eris and was complaining that she didn't like the appearance of swype and wished it looked like her default (HTC_IME) keyboard. So, since I had already made the theme for Droids, I thought I would convert it over for her. Since she isn't rooted, I compiled it into the swype APK for the Eris and loaded it on her phone tonight, and it works like a charm. Since I went through all the work of compiling the theme and the apk for her, I thought I'd share it with the rest of the Eris community. Hope you guys enjoy it :)

Download: Swype-Lite.1.16.12.5228.219.apk

Instructions:

1. Download the APK and put it on your SD Card
2. If you already have Swype installed on your phone, uninstall it
3. Install this APK
4. Swype to your heart's content!
