Root [Boost Mobile] Philz question

So, I feel like a noob (and I still kind of am with this phone when it comes to being rooted) but I have a question. I've been searching around the web for this today and before I give up on Philz I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable can help me out.

How do you wipe the internal SD card? I see no option under mounts and storage, only SDCARD1. I also can't find an option anywhere to fix permissions. I've broke my phone so many times modding stuff and keep restoring backups and my internal sd card is just a mess with old apps left over garbage and stuff and I'd like to start with a clean slate like I would get from doing a factory reset from within Android but I'm pretty sure we're not supposed to do that now correct?

Also what's the latest version of TWRP that works right? 2.6.3.0?

Just booted into recovery and I don't see either one of those options (wiping internal or fixing permissions). You could certainly flash TWRP just to get the internal wipe done, then flash back to Philz. Latest version is 2.6.3.1, but I couldn't get it to flash properly on my phone, so I would say that 2.6.3.0 is generally the most recent working version. 2.6.3.1 is actually the reason I went to Philz, so that I could flash KitKat ROM's.

I really do like Philz. With how advanced it is I'm surprised to see these 2 options missing. I wonder if they are missing for a reason? Honestly I've never really needed fix permissions much but I find it strange not being able to wipe the internal SD.

Maybe the internal wipe not being available is a safety measure, so some inexperienced user can't say "Phil made me lose all my photos/music/whatever." Not that he hasn't done an awesome job of making it safe and secure anyway, since you have to confirm any major operation and the default highlighted line is the "No" option.

Here's the latest fully functional version of TWRP I've found. It can also be flashed via recovery unlike the majority which have to be flashed via Odin.

This version is compliments of Naddict. He is the one who converted it to be flashed via recovery.

Darn good point Smith. Ya know, Root Explorer and Titanium Pro are two of the best apps I've ever bought. Those are two apps I would consider mandatory and are most definitely worth the money.

Yeah I am a TB pro junky lol. It's actually the first app I paid for. I don't have root explorer though I use Total Commander usually. I used to use ES file explorer but Total Commander mounts system as writable, makes a change, then unmounts it automatically so I like that. And it's free.

My internal SD right now has 1.5gb roughly being used and I think I found everything now. It's mostly just stuff in the Android folder I think and yeah I could just delete that stuff manually I guess after I factory reset the phone.

I think TB Pro was my first paid app too. On my very short list of absolute must have root apps. SD Maid Pro and AdAway are really only the other two on that list, I consider Xposed Installer and its associated mods to be in a class all their own.

We were having some issues with Wicked Sensations and a lot of people were noticing a good bit of their internal storage was being taken up. What most of us ended up doing was saving the Internal to a pc and then using TWRP to wipe it. I had to do this several times and it's solved my problem everytime.

Ah HA! It pays to read read read! In Philz go to mounts and storage, and format data and data/media. Data/media is the internal SD card. I confirmed this by using total commander and going to root/data/media, and there it is. Sweet.

Good Info bro. I'll definitely need to remember that if I switch back to Philz which I probably will if I switch ROMs. Has anyone found a way to fix permissions with Philz? I looked but didn't see it.

It has it... I haven't been in recovery for a while but I did see/use it... I think it was in one of the new philz directories (not normal cwm)

I can't find it but I'll look again.

Still researching but apparently it's been removed from regular CWM recently also. Some peeps in the thread on XDA are saying it was unnecessary bloat that didn't do anything and/or caused problems. Don't hold me to that though. You know how everything we read on the internet is *cough* true.

The issue is with some licence apps that require special permissions. Messing with standard default ones will make them stop to work
Often it works to get around some issues, but usually it is better to re-install or restore a backup in my opinion

Ah hah! Score! Nice find bro and makes sense. To be honest, I very rarely use the fix permissions option. I was still curious why I didn't see it in Philz since I've gotten so used to seeing in the recoveries I've used over the years.

Thanks for sharing your find and verifying it's definitely not there. I probably spent 10 minutes looking for it when I flashed Philz for the 1st time. LOL

Edit : Feels kinda weird. I switched to my tablet a few minutes ago because I didn't want to switch out batteries on my S3 because I'm taking some advice and using a calibrate app for the battery. I've got to be honest too. I did notice a difference in my battery life after the first calibration. Check this out.

Can't wait to get my s3 and do what I do now like Wet has posted in the misc. thread part. My prevail wouldn't last about a half day and when I started doing all the things listed in that battery thread, I can now make it the whole day with some to spare on the same battery, using phone the same way. I use my phone on and off a lot in the day. The biggest one is turn data off, you will still get text that way and calls. I check my phone every 1/2 or hour, turn on data and run through twitter, email, ect then turn off again, so why get notifications if going to pick it up and check anyways. Some good things in that thread that I have been doing for the past year or so.
