Hello everyone, this is my first thread - I'm struggling to connect my phone to the pc!

I have a samsung galaxy s3, i suppose it's the latest software because it updates it every so often.

I cannot get it to connect to my pc,

I've tried, Switching it on and off, taking the sim card out, updated kies, downloaded a tether programme. I need this sorted ASAP as i have to give my phone in for repair as the usb port is slightly messed up, (i need to fiddle and position with it in order to charge it)

i looked at the settings for USB connection and it isn't highlighted at all, and will not let me tick the box by it, even when it's connected

When it connects to my pc, which is windows 7.

Please can somebody help connect this phone to the computer through the USB cable! - ASAP!

I do not have much knowledge on how to use the phone, or even a computer so please simplify replies..

Thanks!

Hello and welcome rajkaur:)

You mentioned your usb port on the device may be a little loose...that could be an issue. ;)

However, lets try this :
1... try a different cord
2. try a different usb port.
3. Uninstall current drivers from the computer.... go to control panel/programs/programs and Features/uninstall programs. Look for Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones. Uninstall it.
Reboot computer...
Then go here to download the drivers again:
Support - Verizon Wireless Cell Phones SCH-I535 | Samsung Cell Phones look in downloads for the driver.

Another site for slightly updated drivers is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1655286

After installing the driver, reboot the computer again. At the same time, it wouldn't hurt to reboot the phone while you are waiting for the computer to reboot.:)

Try again to plug in the device :)

Go to your settings at top of screen hit more, then hit Developer options. Now at Debugging check "USB" debugging". Now see if this

I am having the same issue (I didn't see this post when I made my post) also. I am on Verizon and didn't see developers tools on my settings menu. My phone charges, but won't connect as a USB device.

If your phone is a Samsung Galaxy 3 you should have the developers tools, as i pointed out. Read my instructions again and look for it.:)
