Root [International] Rooting and Unrooting

I have a UK Galaxy S4, it was on the 3 network but got it unlocked.

I am considering rooting it as I need certain apps so I can use the phone with a Pioneer AppRadio.

However before I do this I want to know I can unroot the phone if I can't get certain apps (Barclays) not to work.

I have downloaded Odin 3v185 but I also need the std firmware.

My phone details:
GT-i9505
Android 4.3
Baseband Ver: i9505XXUEMK9
Kernel Ver: 3.4.0-2082040

My question is which firmware should I get ie 3 specific or generic. I don't want to find my phone is locked again.

Where can I get the firmware where the download does not take 10 hours?

Un-rooting requires that you manually remove any rooted apps such as SuperSU, BusyBox, etc; prior to flashing a stock Samsung firmware for your phone's firmware Version codes. See #1.3 of 23 Galaxy S4 models - know yours?

However, be advised that as you are on Android 4.3 you have Knox Security and that your Knox warranty will be void. See, Knox Security & locked bootloader on new firmwares

If you just wish to root to use rooted apps and do not want custom ROMs, you do not need to flash the custom, PhilZ, recovery and Knox should not be affected.

You can download stock Samsung firmware from either SamMobile or Samsung Updates Live.

If you are un-rooting your phone, it is advisable to use the firmware for your version codes as anything else will not allow updates via Kies or OTA. If you mean can you flash any ROM for your phone's model after rooting, the answer is yes, although you can just leave it on the stock firmware.

Both the aforementioned links offer a speedy premium download facility. SamMobile is usually better on the free download.

Most bank apps work however Barclays is different - Barclays mobile banking on rooted android

However I click on the SamMobile like and did a search for GT-i9505 but there were only two entries for GB and neither had my firmware ending EMK9

That is not your firmware, merely the Baseband or modem that is bundled with your firmware. Follow my instructions in the previous post to locate your precise firmware details including the CSC code.
