Root [Recovery] TWRP 2.8.6.0

Having a huge problem, it doesnt seem to be able to flash the stock deodexed rom. Every time I try, it goes through the entire installation process normally, then at the very end it says "error: failed to execute updater script" and also "could not locate lost+found". Then if I try to restore a backup, it will also fail. It also appears attempting to flash the stock rom erases the internal storage partition. I've had this happen twice so far. The fix for getting things back to normal is inconsistent as well. The first time this happened, I had to flash Carbon Rom, boot it, then reboot recovery, wipe everything, then restore a backup. Any other Rom I tried, failed to install. The second time it happened, the only rom I could install was white moonshine v2.9, boot it, wipe everything, then restore a backup. All other roms failed to install, including Carbon. All of my backups failed too. The only way that I've been able to flash the stock deodexed was to flash cwm first, then I can flash TWRP and make a back up after I've booted it once. TWRP can restore a backup of the stock deodexed rom, but not install it.

Probably has to do with the update script...maybe Earl can look at the zip and see if it needs updated for twrp compatibility.
*Edit*
Apparently side load is broken in this version also. Spoke to Earl and hr said it'd work with the previous version.

Just went through this with the new version of twrp. Had to flash the previous version of twrp to be able to reflash my stock rom mod. Wasnt sure what the heck was going on with everything failing to install, formatting errors with everything i tried to do..then I associated it with having installed something other than stock earlier today..after that things went haywire on me. Still not sure what to make of it all lol..is my updater script crapola? Or is there more to it than that....hmm...

Modhatter can you help me? I have no idea how to flash twrp, and can you tell me how to backup without it?

I can probably help you out. I should mention though, that most of the members in these sub forums are just as capable of helping you, if not more so, than myself.

Do you currently have CWM installed? or are you fastbooting it with your PC?

Nah, you're not screwed at all. You can do everything from your phone. Are you rooted?

Yes i am rooted.

Sweet. That saves some time. Check this thread. http://androidforums.com/awe-all-th...red-root-recovery-rom-guide-zte-awe-only.html You're already at step #2. You'll need to have the following on your SD card.

1. TWRP 2.8 from the first page. -- You'll need to extract the .img file from the zip using one of many apps (root explorer, zip file manager etc.) easily found on the play store.

2. a ROM.

And Install root rasher. (also on the thread)

Then follow the guide starting from step 2. of the thread I linked. Make sure to make a backup first. As soon as you get twrp installed. If you need any assistance with that refer back to this thread.
