Help My new Droid Maxx 2 will no longer charge

I accidentally plugged it into a old Nikon camera charger today while I was looking for the manufacturer supplied charger. The USB cord fit perfectly in the device, but the phone only momentarily displayed the charging screen before shutting down completely. Realizing my mistake, I quickly unplugged it and attempted to charge it with the correct charger once I found it. Even after waiting for several minutes for it to come back on, it seems it will no longer respond. I inspected both chargers and found that both had the same standard voltage rating but the Nikon charger was rated for a much lower amperage. Did I fry my phone already or should I give it some more time?

I also have a Maxx 2 and I have charged it with a couple of different devices, neither of which harmed the phone. It charges off a Samsung battery pack and my laptop without issue, albeit much slower. It's seems strange that a charger with the same voltage rating that outputs less current would cause an issue. Only thing I can think of is that the Nikon charger doesn't comply with the USB standard, meaning it's internal wiring is different than a charger that meets the standard. Is the Nikon charger an integrated unit, meaning is the charger and cable one piece?

Try and see if this works, Hold Down the Power button and the Volume down button at the same time for 3-4 seconds with the original charger connected to the phone to see will it do a refresh?
