Help Update has made my phone frustratingly laggy!!

I have a note 4 and since the update it's been painfully laggy. When I text it will freeze and then text everything I had texted several times. I can not type another text while one is sending (this is probably the most frustrating problem given my next issue) and it will always say a text is sending even after it has been recieved. Is there anything I can do short of a factory reset? I hate having to redo everything on my phone. I was hoping after a few weeks they would have fixed these issues since they were issues that were immediately obvious after the update rolled out. TIA!!!.

You could try wiping the Cache Partition in recovery but I have found it always best to do a factory reset after a large update. Helps remove any data and gunk left behind by the previous version.

I've done the cache wipe several times with no success...grrr...

You could try asking around in the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 subforum to see if anyone else is encountering these issues.

Like @Jfalls63 said, though, a factory data set is often a good idea after any major release upgrade (like Android 4.x to Android 5.x, or 5.x to 6.x). There's a lot of gunk (technical term) that can get built up, and a fresh start can help to avoid a lot of problems.

And I don't think this "issue" is exclusive to Android. I hear iPhone users complain about the same stuff after updates. It's just unfortunatelythe way things are... It's also one of the reasons i root. To backup all my apps and app data which can easilybe restored any time I start fresh.

When the dev releases a update to a custom rom, you have a choice to update or not. Download and flash it or stick with what you have.
Backups make it easier to downgrade back to previous version if you don't like the changes in the update.
