Replacement battery

Hi all. I'm just wondering if there are any decent extended replacement batteries out there. I'd ideally like a little more juice for my S5 without having to carry extra battery packs around or power banks but without having to have a big ugly case.

Can I have my cake and eat it? Ideas.

Longer battery life = bigger battery. Don't believe any BS that tells you otherwise. Any battery that claims to give higher power for the same size as your existing Samsung li-on 2800mAh battery, is bogus.

Fair enough I thought that might be the case. So what would your preference be, spare battery, bigger battery with a third party back or power bank?

I just bought the Anker 26800 model as I take long motorcycle tours and don't have access to Wall Wart charger modules for extended periods of time while touring.... the phone's battery goes dead on me during the day as I use it a lot for watching the weather and staying updated on my motorcycle forum.

Anker has several sizes of these, choose the one that will get you thru the day and recharge it at night while sleeping.

Depends if you mind carrying something around with you, and if so how big. I'm sure that 26000ma power bank could run the phone for days on end but it's not going to fit easily in your pocket. There are smaller ones that will, then you could just have a cable from your pocket to the phone or only plug it in during heavy use. I have a couple of small ones rated at 5-6000ma and they serve my purposes just fine.
The only internal battery I'd use is an OEM exact replacement.

Hi, I just carry a spare OE battery round, takes up very little room and easily changed in a couple of minutes. Phil

If your phone uses replaceable battery you can buy some spare batteries and charge them with a battery charger before your trip. If it's just about your phone, a couple of extra batteries still take less space than a huge power bank.

And why I recommend spare batteries instead of power bank, all power banks don't deliver the amount of mAh that you could see on the package, the best of them can only deliver about 60% that description because lot of power will be lost during the 3.7v to 5.0v conversion process.

If your phone has 3000mAh battery, you need a 6000mAh power bank to charge it to full and the power bank probably goes dead right after the charging.

this is something that is highly personal, what works for me ( Anker 26800 slipped into my laptop's carry case ) will not work work for an office worker who has to jump and run every few minutes. This latter case would require one of the small power banks that will slip into your pocket with the phone. Most folks doing this already have a BT earbud anyway, so it is no inconvenience to have the power bank attached to the phone, while in their pocket.

For me, the outdoors touring motorcycle guy, when I stop at a rest stop, set up at a park bench, open the laptop brief case, set up "My Office"...

the power bank is plugged into the phone, the Hotspot is turned on, and I am ready to go.


My body gets rested, my brain gets invigorated, and we pack up and off we go.

The power bank get refueled at night, so all is well...

It's ok to carry a spare battery, but to switch them you have to shut down the phone, remove the back (and first take it out of its case if you use one), swap the battery then reassemble and reboot. Not terribly convenient especially if you're in the middle of something and don't want to shut down. Much easier to just plug in the powerbank.
