In the early reviews, the X10 was slated for poor keyboard entry on screen. As someone who is just about to take the leap from a physical keyboard to a smartphone, and the X10 is looking v favourable, how is inputting on the screen ? accurate or poor ?
Thanks

I myself use Better Keyboard with the Android And Me Skin and I find it great to type on. I hit the wrong key time to time but I did that on other phones to, I see a lot of people complaining about it and downloading the HTC Keyboard. I suppose it just depends on how fast you type, if you are quick then you need accuracy, if you are slow like me then it does not matter... LOL

The problem with the reviews is they look at it as how it is and not at the fact that its still Android and you can install lots of other better keyboards.

As mentioned the Installed SE keyboard is not great but can be quickly changed to the stock Android keyboard which is also already installed this is better but you can get even better by either downloading one of the many keyboards from the Android market or you can put a HTC keyboard onto the X10 and its nice and easy to do and this is Vastly better then even the Android Keyboard.

Then theres also Swype which i also have installed heres a vid of Swype:

The early reviews were based before the x10 got an update from se.

I was expecting a really crappy keyboard that would often not respond to key input, but when I got my x10 a while back, it had already been updated so using the default keyboard was not as horrid to input text as the reviewers led me to believe.

Thanks for ALL the feedback; very useful. (hasn't helped me ditch the idea of getting the Xperia10 in preference for an HTC Desire though ...... I love the SE phones for their combined camera facility with good 'phones but have been seriously thinking of the Desire as an alternative!).
thanks

I admit the Android keyboard is nice as well but too me at least the HTC Keyboard is still better the reasons are:

Haptic Feedback
Keys Look slightly better spaced
Bigger Space Bar
Better Autocomplete
Voice To Text Button

For me only bigger spacebar is useful, if it gets better key register then it will be better because I LOVE typing on iPhone and everything that is worse than his keyboard and touch input is bad for me...and I like Android keyboard because it is grey and in dark places it does not lit up your face with white light, and HTC keyboard is white...
