10 Best apps to free up space on your Android phone

Ratings were also considered. The lowest rated app on this list is 4.4/5. Clean Master is actually one of the highest rated apps in this category.

It's because the vast majority don't realise the damage that installing any Cheetah Mobile app actually does.

Do a search for Cheetah Mobile on the forums and see if anyone has anything good to say about them.

Also, just because people like it, doesn't mean it's any good. Loads of people like Little Mix and One Direction, but they're rubbish.

Whilst this focuses on Ram killers, clean master/cheetah mobile are discussed at length - https://androidforums.com/threads/p...k-killers-ram-optimizers-and-the-like.896663/

Joe, I genuinely mean no offence here, but I struggle to believe any reputable Android/Tech site would have anything by Cheetah Mobile in a recommended apps list.

I have never tried the Clean Master , but i am gooing to install it on phone,

Go ahead...but be aware that your stuff is phoned home to the Cheetah Mobile servers in Beijing, and then sold on to unknown third-parties. That's basically how CM monetizes their "free" apps. Cheetah are primarily a data mining and advertising company, who benefits greatly from having their "free" apps on as many devices as they can.

When Cheetah Mobile was just an app developement company that's when they were really really good but in 2014 they went public with a new business plan. If the linked aricle was tl:dr it basically says they went from app development to ad monitezation. Once they did that the whole user experience changed right then. It's not really bad per se, but it's like watching TV with lots of commercials instead of using a utility.

I'm going to try that number 1 recommendation though. Nice list Joe.

As crappy as that is, people need to understand that no "free" app is really free. You're paying for it with your personal data. Cheetah Mobile may be less subtle about it, but don't think other apps aren't doing the exact same thing.
