Convincing my friend to switch to EVO from IPHONE, need help

Hard to say without knowing what plan he has.

My iPhone is ~$80 per month after my wife's student discount (on a family plan). The Evo will be about $10 cheaper per month for me with Sprint's student discount applied. I'll keep unlimited texting, but add unlimited mobile to mobile calling and if rumors are true, have truly unlimited 3G data. Also 4G is coming to my area by year end.

Why would you talk him into switching from an iPhone? Your penis won't get any bigger.... just sayin'.

firstly, i dont want it to get any bigger :p, secondly if he's my best friend and someone id use the phone and its apps with on a regular basis, then of course id like him to switch...and bc we always have the apple vs android conversation and id like him to experience it first hand...he's a dear dear friend of mine too lol

I called about the $100 to switch, and the rep I spoke to said that they don't offer anything like that. I don't think this is the case, but I do think that it may be just for an AT&T Business account to a Sprint business account, and would need to be done at a Sprint Store.

I sold my iPhone, and my wife is keeping hers (until she can see if she likes my phone or not). Moving her to an individual plan on June 4.

Don't bother saying anything at all. For one month, use as much data as you can. If you're in a Wimax location, surf and download with him, use the speech-text function as much as you can, watch a movie or SprintTV while he's around, and then show him your total bill compared to his.

I don't try to sell people who are fans of a particular product any more than I try to get them to change their loyalty from their favorite team because you cannot convince someone to change unless they want to.

If your friend has even more friends who are in the iPhandom, save your breath and just let them be.

Like the dad on the commercial says when the daughter complains about the son adding her friends to his calling circle, "maybe you should have Android-using friends." Not a dig at you or your friends, just a funny borrow from a carrier commercial.

This is a tough question to advise you on because people place different levels of importance on the various aspects of their phones. I switched from iPhone 3GS to EVO and could not be happier. The EVO outclasses the iphone in too many ways to list here. The biggest advantage is the larger screen. The major problem with any smartphone in my opinion is that you are always looking through a keyhole. Whether it is web, map or app, the size of the screen has an enormous impact on the usability of the device.

Despite the advantages of the EVO, I did give up significant bandwith speed. Here in Austin, ATT 3G runs at 2 mb/sec. Sprint 3G is about 1 mb/sec or less. The 4G varies in speed greatly and seldom exceeds 2mb/sec here in Austin and does not receive well indoors. Nevertheless, I'm amazed by the EVO and would not consider even a new iPhone 4 to be in its league. The good news is that your friend can try the EVO for 30 days and return it if he wants to.
