How do I get rid of my Singapore Service Provider OS

I bought a used Note 8 SM-950F / DS from a local store which turns out to be a International phone from a Singapore carrier Singtel.

I am now using this phone on ATT in Virginia.

Is there an easy way to ditch this OS and run stock Samsung without rooting the phone?

SW version is:
SAOMC_SM-N950F_OXM-SIN_OO-0005


The store that sold it to me said they will exchange it - however have already invested time in in it and I would like to see if maybe this phone is worth keeping because of Exynos processor which is supposedly just as good as the Snapdragon, and easier to root if you want to do that.

Just to clarify, is this a Note 8 or a S8? The SM-950x models pertain to Galaxy S8 phones. The Note 8 phones would have a model I.D. of N5120 or N510.

Regarding something like just switching ROMs, that's not going to work out too well. Each ROM is created to match the specific hardware configuration of each model of phone, the issue being every model is made with its own unique combination of internal components. And there is no such thing as a generic, universally-compatible Android ROM available for anyone to just install on their phone. You might want to think about using a third-party ROM but this will probably involve wiping the phone so if you're going to need to do a full backup and restore of your data anyway, you might want to just take that store's offer to do an exchange and just get a phone that you know will be fully compatible with AT&T.

Yeh, SM-N950 is definitely Note 8. The OP wrote, "Note 8 SM-950F" omitting the N, which I guess was a typo.

I have not rooted mine or tried a Custom Rom as it does OK and mine was never on a Carrier just a .tw phone
(They sell them as International)

If you feel up to trying I would get TWRP installed first and do a Full Back up to a microSD
