Yep, there seems to be a bit of that going around. Google typically distributes update OTAs in a staggered rollout. A small percentage of devices receive the update on the first day and then larger numbers are added as time goes on. The rollout is generally completed within 2 weeks.
This staged approach allows Google to monitor how things are going and make changes to the update package if problems are encountered. I'd rather wait a few extra days than have a device get bricked by a buggy update.
I was under the impression that "mashing the update button" would further delay any pending updates rather than accelerate them. Especially if said mashing took place in less than 24-hour intervals. Of course that may all be myth, legend and rumor. The ways of the Google are dark and mysterious.
