Nokia 2.4 files.

Hello all, I have a Nokia 2.4 on which I can send and receive emails but as some emails end up in the Junk file I need to be able to see them, This is my first phone at over 80 years young and I am not up with the modern technology. I cannot find the junk or spam file so can anybody tell me how. Thanks to all you in advance.

Hello, Thank you for the reply. Most of the words such as browser app etc are all a bit foreign to me at the moment but I enter hotmail into the search box then I put in my email address then the password. Doing all this then allows me to send and receive emails. You really are dealing with a brontosaurus when it comes to the modern technology / I live on my own on the Shetland isles completely isolated with no relatives here. I am also well over 80 so this really is a learning curve for me. Thank you.

I'm approaching 62 by the way and many of the long timers here could babysit me.
I'm only an end user and flit in and out of this forum site after a long time on another. Many here do software for a living, and can write computer code and er stuff.

I take it you will want to order another phone online, and hope to continue using it in the US. One of the big main phone networks there, Verizon used different signal technologies to the others but I think that is not so much an issue anymore, not sure as I'm rusty. There's other things you may need to consider.


It's a shame as the Nokia 2.4 is a good phone, but just doesn't suit your needs. I have a Nokia 7 Plus but had to send it to Hungary for a free warranty repair so bought the Moto E6 for only £79 to keep me going. I now also bought two www.mi.com phones as they have fantastic sales.

The Chrome app is Googles own website browser. You need a Browser to enter/visit any website address. There are others I also use and some prefer but Chrome is good. (People have always worried about Google knowing too much about us. Google run the Android operating system so it's either Android with many big manufacturers, or Apple's iPhones).

You can better use an "email client" app to more easily use email.
Hotmail was started by Microsoft (computers) who now mostly call their email addresses Outlook.com or Outlook. co.uk so I like to use the Outlook app which will take Hotmail addresses.
You can use any email app like Yahoo and others available free from the (Google) Play Store app. Googles own email app, Gmail, will be on your phone. You can put your Hotmail account on there seperately; as you will now also have a xxxx@Gmail.com address when you set up the phone.

Hello, Thank you for the reply . I enter hotmail into the search box then enter my email address then the password which then allows me to send and receive email and yeas that is my phone Nokia 2.4. Hello again. I only got a phone as I will need it for travel. For many year I have spent three months in South Carolina and have been from there all over America. have relatives there. I have managed without a phone all my life. Well over 80 now and will go back as soon as it is allowed. I needed a phone to show airlines that I am fully vaccinated etc. Our health service has said that there will be an app which they will put on the phone so that it can be shown. I do not intend to use it as a phone. As some emails get sent to a spam/junk folder I need to see them which at the moment I am unable to do. In America I have noticed shops for phones where you can get help and I have been in them with friends but we have nothing like that here. This is a small island group out in the North sea and is 12 hours or more depending on the weather on the ferry from the Scottish mainland. It takes me a week to get to America. I hope that you can help me find the junk files. Thank you.

If you're able to get to your main emails, which is the Inbox or main Folder, you should see a side list for Folders you name or create as well as a Spam or Junk folder. These often self delete after a month or some interval.
If you do find the email you want there you can mark it as not junk or spam or check the box and send it to Inbox so any further emails will be deemed safe.

I looked at my Outlook email app (Microsofts Hotmail as was). If you click on the icon next to Inbox at the top it should open up a list of folders on the left. Microsoft call it Junk not Spam so hopefully even via a browser and not an email app you should find it.

I have the NHS Covid 19 app for coffee shops mostly. Open the Play Store and search that name. I think that's the one

Hello, I see the three lines,on clicking on them it comes up with copy link, view collections, recent, find in page, add to home screen, desktop site, translate, open in chrome. Thats it.

Where it says Inbox above the emails is there a circular icon / symbol to the left by the letter I you can click on?

There may not be on your browser but that's how Microsoft does it on their app.

Hello, I can now access the junk spam folders. There are three horizontal lines close to the inbox which gives access. I thought that I had tried everything but obviously never tapped on the lines. Your circular icon was a clue. Thank you for everything and I feel more confident now that I know that there are people like you out there who are prepared to help.This world would be a much better place if everybody started to help each other .

Hello, You are correct . That does it . I must admit to being very confused and frustrated with the modern technology but I feel more confident now that I know that there is people out there such as you who will help. I have even been confused with the forum as I have never used one before and a lot of my replies and thank you posts seem to have gone to the wrong people but I will get better so thank you for everything and I hope that you get this.

@brontosaurus Glad you found it. I should have used my Chrome (browser to visit websites), like you do I think, and saw what you see. If you enter hotmail.com or www.hotmail.com in a Browser (Edge is Microsoft's browser) it will change to outlook.live.com in the bar and you can enter your hotmail account there and save the password / log in details, and also create a shortcut on your main screen. Or else use the Outlook app or Gmail app and keep your hotmail account there.

Finding the how to and other settings in an app or website can now often be less intuitive and more stylised so harder to find if you're starting from scratch.

If you need more help on the emails side or anything, let us know.

If you get a covid pass you may like to screenshot it for safe keeping as well (a photo of what's on your screen).

With these forums, you are navigating it well, and I wish half the questions were written as clearly. You currently have two threads (or conversations) which you can go two in Home - My Threads, but you probably see a red notification on the Bell and go to it from there. You can ask a Moderator to merge two in to one thread if they're similar, but there's no need here. A lot of people can't find how to respond again so keep starting another thread. You're good to go

Re: the Compass thing : have you tried using Maps to draw you (walking) direction lines you can follow to where you are going. It may not be what you want a compass for, and I'm not sure how well it works in open water or the Shetland Islands where there would be fewer mobile cell towers to help augment GPS satellite reception.

I have had two vaccinations but not been able as of yet to get our NHS to put it on a phone but as it will be needed for travel that will have to happen / We in Scotland do not even get a card with it on which my sons in England have had no problem with. I hope to travel back to America as soon as it is allowed and this could be my last time as I have failing kidneys. It takes me a week to get to South Carolina as the Shetland isles are 12 to 14 hours on the ferry to Aberdeen. It may take longer than a week this time due to covid tests. I could fly fro the island to Aberdeen but I do not like the air service here. I am only allowed three months there but an America / coming here can stay for six months.Thank you once again and stay safe.

Sounds a helluva journey but I hope it goes calmly and uncrowded for you, and you'll be staying overnights.

You may need a smartphone more in the US.
