I just got it a few minutes ago and guess what. It came with 2.1 and Hboot 1.49 This sucks
this is just wrong. and this is from callin *611 getting replacement?
LMAO! you got someones leaked phone. I had tech support on the phone today. They pushed the update to my phone and it did not show up. I have lv3 on mine so if they changed the hboot to 1.49 it would have went through to my phone. I don't think all these phones get reflashed to 1.5.I just got it a few minutes ago and guess what. I asked tech what happens to the phones they get and I was told they test them and if they work they send them back out. Sounds funny to me.
Ok. I understand. so it just laid ontop the old os. right? So my 1.49 is the official. Kewl. Still hope I get one with 1.47. I want root. lolthats not correct........ you would not have gotten the OTA because the OTA is 1.47..... youre running 1.49......... it would see that as an error and not give you the OTA
the NEW phones are now being shipped with 2.1 because 2.1 is the version Verizon is coding them with now 1.49 is the correct 'full version' hboot for 2.1
2.1OTA was kind of like a patch laid over 1.5 which is why it kept the same hboot
they arent going to install older software onto new phones when they have newer software sitting right beside it........ those people still getting new phones with 1.5 are just getting old inventory
those people still getting new phones with 1.5 are just getting old inventory
Lol, why is it wrong?
The Eris is now officially running 2.1
All Eris' at this point should be at 2.1
Why would Verizon still ship phones running 1.5?
Only those who want to Root will be upset about this, which probably only accounts for about 0.5% Of Eris users.

I think we need to see if this happens to anyone else before we make a judgment on 2.1 and new phones. I got a refurb once from Verizon and it came in a new looking box. I asked, because I knew I shouldn't be getting a new phone due to the reason (warranty replacement), and the tech at the store told me it was a refurb. Looked brand new! This was not a replacement phone but a BRAND NEW phone. I really hope that Verizon is not selling used or refurbs as New. It was in a brand new sealed retail box.
it's wrong because Verizon doesn't "support" this rom. or so they say.
In my opinion, the reason the 2.1 OTA did not have the 1.49 bootloader was to prevent a total wipe of the phone to install the update. That way they wouldn't tick off the majority of the Eris users who have no clue what 1.5 or 2.1 means. So, they could put the 1.49 HBOOT 2.1 versions on new phones, because they are new, no wipe required for updating. Just a thought.

Ok I am a new Verizon customer been with them since march of this year and had a few problems with my Eris since day one. Well I called and talked to a manager and told them I would only be happy with a brand new phone not a refurd and since I have five lines all with data they agreed to send me a BRAND NEW one. It came in the same box as the first one I got from them back in March and I have NO reason to believe its not brand new. And yes it did come with 2.1 and Hboot 1.49. I have no reason to lie. I was hopping for 1.5, I wanted to root.
