Am I the only one who sucks applying anti-static screen protectors?

I purchased the Clarivue anti-glare protector for $12.99 and had to junk them both due to my horrible application skills. I should have left it alone the first time when it was nearly perfect except for a big dust bubble just off the viewable surface area of the screen on the left. Trying to fix it lead to major problems. Gaaah! I have no "hand skills." So incompetent. I really don't want to throw away another $13. Might have to risk going naked.

Hey buddy your not alone

Best trick I did with the clarivues is this:
- take a long piece of tap that you apply to a corner of the screen protector (so you can lift it up to get the dust)
- then, before you lift up the screen protector, wrap a piece of tape around your finger (what you will use to get the dust off with leaving any marks or fingerprints
- then lift up Tue screen protector (gently) and begin touching the tape that's wrapped around your finger to the places where there is dust on the protector

Mine took about 30 min to get perfect with this tape method since sometimes you'll get the dust out and another piece of dust will fly in!

Most important! Is the fact that you get lifetime replacements from Clarivue. If the original ones go bad and you want another shot just check out their website on how to go about getting replacements (They are only $3 vs $13 for new ones )

The only other suggestion I can offer is the same that's useful for the "wet" screen protectors as well -- run the steam in the bathroom with the doors closed until it gets very foggy. Wait 15 minutes, and as the fog settles, so will the dust with it. Then do the application there.

I take no credit for this as I'm just repeating what has been said elsewhere...

A trick to keep the dust from getting on your screen is to apply the screen protector in the bathroom. Turn on the sink with really hot water and the shower too and close the door. Wait until the room is steamy before you clean your screen and remove the protective film from the back of the screen protector. The steam will wet and weight down the dust particles floating in the air and help prevent them from getting stuck to your protector before it's applied.

I bailed on the first Clarivue screen protector because I had done such a terrible job. The second one went much better. I think that is why they send 2 in a package. Anyhow, you can also buy from a Sprint store and ask them to install it for you. If you get them on a slow day, usually no problem. Or if there is a Sprint repair center near you they may do it for a fee.

haha maybe some people are just good and some people are bad at it. I'm awesome at putting on static-cling protectors It's the water-based ones that kill me

i bought a ten pack on ebay because they were 3$ for 10 and i figured ide mess it up. but nope i got it on the first try now all i need to do is figure out what to do with the other 9

Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of a steamy environment in-store. I just clean off the screen with a lint-free cloth, dust off my clothes, grab a piece of scotch tape, and pull the individual pieces of lint and dust off the phone with that piece of tape. As soon as everything's gone, immediately grab the screen protector, peel off the cover, and lay it on top. The rest is pretty standard grabbing a credit card/squeegee to push the air bubbles out. Last 4 screen protectors I applied turned out perfect and have made the the unofficial go-to guy for applying dry screen protectors.

Try rolling the screen protector layer under as you adhere. (you can back roll it on a pen or pencil to keep it square to the phone) then from the top side push the protector down with the credit card. The layer rolling off will grab the dust. Similar to pulling vinyl backing off a graphic on plexiglass. Hope it helps

It takes some Skills and patience to apply those Screen protectors LOl. Especially Alot of Patience.

I am awful at putting them on so I just don't use them. I've never had a major screen scratch without one.
