Launcher Pro PLUS!

Just upgraded to LauncherPro +, spent several hours updating and customizing my home screens, only to realize I'm not sure if I'm ready to give up and move away from what Sense is. It really is a finely tuned UI.

Now reading everyone's FC issues, I'm more prone to stick with Sense.

Anyone else have any reluctance to make a full transition to LauncherPro?
On the other hand a lot of people dont have FC issues. It seems to be just certain apps matched with certain widgets.

I like sense, but launcherpro is just too fun to customize to not use it.. The developer is really on top of things too and constantly releasing suggestions he gets on his site.

I noticed the same thing. Just tried it again with the new update hoping it was fixed but it still happens.

I will post on LP's forum, hopefully it will get fixed.

I too am running the LPPlus and getting FC's, but only when going from landscape back to norm.....anybody else getting that? Should I disable "Enable auto rotation"? what exactly does that feature do?

Czwakiel:

I was like you but finally gave in and purchased LP Plus Pro. Great launcher, awesome widgets. I don't see what Sense has over LP Plus Pro anymore.

Not sure if this has been asked and I haven't found an answer, but with the Favorites widget, how can I add more contacts?

You edit the contact information for the person you want to add and select the "group" from the drop down list and save.

Favorites is not a group but two contacts I had previously "starred" from an LG enV3 are showing as favorite contacts (and therefore in the People widget).

Do I need to create a group and call it "Favorites" and add contacts to that, then just select the group from within the widget preferences?

Also, my issue is that the ROM I am running causes the stock People app to FC every time I try to edit a contact's group :(

Yes but it doesn't even have to be called favorites. Create a group called whatever you want, add desired contacts to that group, and then select that group when placing the widget.

As far as the ROM you are on..... I would start shopping around ;)

I went to upgrade and the only option available was echeck. And now I'm being told that I may not get to use the upgrade for another WEEK. I tried to email the developer and got an automated email saying he gets too many emails and to use the forum. To be honest, I'm sick of signing up for tons of separate websites just to get an answer to one question.

Does anyone know if there is a way for me to get the software unlocked sooner? I'm writing an article that I want to release with a couple of days still left on the return policy after using this fully unlocked launcher as part of my experience. If I have to wait a week, then there's no way that I can include my experience with it.

Why couldn't he have used the marketplace? Is there any way to get immediate access to the unlocked abilities? Thanks!

I thought I paid with payPal.

He cant use Market because Market is restricted based on Country and dev is from a country not supported by Market.

I paid through website and was unlocked within a fe w mins but I bought first week it was avail.

The only thing I don't like is the direction LaunderPro is going.

I think it is a waist of time to try and remake all the old htc widgets. Sure once you switch over from sense you feel naked without them, but once you start looking through the market you finder better more practical replacements.

In the end I think fede is just doing all this work for nothing. I mean I would love to use the HTC Bookmark widget but who can give up 1 entire homescreen for one widget?

And yes I know you can resize it but it doesn't look right. I just think the time it is taking him to redo these widgets could be better spent doing something else.

1. He is doing those widgets in response to customer inquiries. Many people have asked for similar widgets to the HTC widgets. So, I guess some people can use an entire screen for 1

2. I use app organizer. For a while I was down to 3 homescreens because I had everything well organized. Now, I use all 7 with People, bookmarks, and Calendar widgets used.

3. One thing about the "direction" is that the developer seems to be very good at responding to demand for certain features. I bought the app even though at the time I had no interest in the widgets, just to support the developer. Now, I am glad I did.

4. Resizing widgets is a great idea but nothing I am going to use for a while.

Just my thoughts. To each their own.

I only have force close issues with the rotation setting. I love the app.

I, for one, love the direction that Launcher Pro is going. Before Federico included his first widget I was down to one home screen.

I don't care for home screens loaded with tons of 1x1 shortcuts. So I prefer full and half screen widgets. Plus I use Quick desk (as an eight home screen) and Smart Shortcuts (to organize the majority of my apps). I think that HTC's widgets are fantastic, they look great and function just as well. I just prefer Launcher Pro's dock. Hence my use of it.

And I think that the majority of widgets in the market are boring or just plain ugly. This is what happens when you have programmers doing design work. Federico shines in both programming and design.

I'm always leery of trying a launcher program. Have any of you tried Launcher and then uninstalled it and gone back to Sense? I am afraid of having issues after uninstalling and then having to hard reset the phone.

I haven't uninstalled LP but I can switch between that and Sense with no issues. It's very quick and all settings of each are retained etc. Haven't come across any probs yet.

Twiz, don't worry, I've done this and there were no problems.

You can scroll the HTC calender widget.

My favorite thing so far is the Pure Calendar scrollable widget!! (can't scroll it with HTC Sense). Widget resizing is great too.

...and I haven't even started to customize it yet!

(mind you I only bought it 2 days ago).

I don't know why but after having a perfectly running Launcher Pro for the longest time I have been having more and more FC issues with each update. I've finally had to uninstall and go back to Boring old Sense.

I've tried downgrading back to LauncherPro Basic, I did a full wipe after installing a 2.2 ROM and it just got worse and worse. I'll probably give it another try soon , I'll probably wipe and flash a new ROM and give it another try
