HTC EVO out of stock...

A friend of mine went to a Sprint store and the salesman badmouthed the evo and talked him into getting an Instinct.

He talked the guy into a outdated crappy phone. Well at least he got his commission. I do feel sorry for the sprint and other stores trying to sell the EVO. Would suck you have this awesome phone that you might get in stock in the next couple weeks.

I called every store in my area that was some what close like bestbuys radio shack and sprint stores no one had them. But everyone said u can be put on the waiting list. Screw that I got lucky and bestbuy had a few so I raced over there and got a white one. Previous day I returned my iPhone 4, love my Evo4gee. Plus I got the Droid X Eye live wallpaper. Installed it from a website which was cool.

I am so sick of waiting for my phone to come in. Everyday it is disappointment, no phone call day after day. I pre-ordered one from best buy a week ago. Its a cell phone! How can it take so long and have so few for such high demand? I dont see the droid X on back-order or any other phone for that matter. I gave up my Hero to my brother and took an old crappy Samsung Rant, its hard going from a smartphone to a texting phone. I know I sound impatient but I just want this phone now!!!!

How long did you guys wait to get your EVO's?

a lot of phones are having the same issue. My little brother just got the incredible last week, it was between that and the droid x, both were not in stock so they had to ship them to us, the incredible would take 2days, the X would take until the end of this month because it was on backorder. The incredible was hard to find as well for about two months, luckily we went in when they just got back in stock, read an article about it after we left the store.

I was lucky to get my evo the day after launch, i went to best buy and they only had the preorders, said it could be awhile to get one, i decided i would just wait since i hate mail in rebates, but my little brother was like just go over to sprint and see if they had, so we went across the street and they did, picked one up. Probably would still not have one if i had waited, lol.

Same here. I think getting the EVO on or the day after launch was key.

Also, I think where you reside will have an impact as to whether or not you'll find an EVO. For example, I live in a large city with lots and lots of Sprint, BB and Radioshack stores around. I could easily call up 5-10 stores and check, or put my name down on multiple lists.

I kind of feel bad for all the people who are still waiting, considering I went through 4 EVOs since June 5th.

They might have some on hand for new Sprint customers. That's how I got mine. I went into the store multiple times and only when I told someone I wanted to leave VZW did they miraculously have an EVO in stock. Might be worth giving it a try. Although I have been waiting for a replacment for 12 days myself so they just might be completely out? Sorry you are waiting so long it really is an awesome device.

...I was told 2-3 weeks, oh well I will have to gain more patience!

Come back in two weeks when you have a valid reason to bitch about it...jmo

I just checked with a local Best Buy, and they just got two in, but have a waitlist of 6 people, so I guess that the phones are still trickling in.

Funny thing was, the guy I asked said, "Yes, we have one available.", only to be interrupted by the girl helping another customer who informed him that there were 6 on the waitlist. Oh well, I think I almost got one. ;)

They seemed be be expecting a large order to arrive in the next week or two, but that may have just been to get me to come back and buy from them rather than keep looking around.

i'd go in and try to get one....

you know the old saying, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush...

ie a customer with cash in front of me speaks a whole lot louder than a waiting list

This sucks!!! Thanks for the info though...**does a search on Evo vs Epic now**

And trust me I loved my Evo. BEFORE the 2.2. If I can NOt do it all over again...*watches phones reset when using Latitude this very moment**

Not strictly a 2.2 issue from what I understand. Are you familiar with this?

HTC EVO 4G:FIX FOR EVO GPS REBOOT (fixes Hero as...

From another thread (didn't save the OP - RoadRunnerSS?? maybe) -

I'll admit I'm being lazy cause I'm at work right now (cause the fix could be in this thread). I found a fix someone posted on sprint's tech forums. It involved getting your MSL code then basically doing a GPS reset. Sorry I don't have a link handy, but I'll try to find it tonight.

For now I found the steps to do this. Once you have your MSL, go to the phone screen and enter this:

##GPSCLRX#

As soon as you do this, you'll be prompted for a password...this is your MSL # that you can get from Sprint customer service. Once you enter your MSL code and hit enter, it will let you know that it was accepted and then your device will reboot in 10 seconds.

This fixed my issues with my EVO rebooting everytime I needed to use any app that used GPS. From reading the sprint forum where I found this fix, it seems to help many other users there as well!
