Bear with me...my Dropbox account got overloaded. Uploading to Multiupload now. Should be a link soon...

Here we go: http://www.multiupload.com/NJQ8YLY0D8

Hello my fine furry friends! I finally got a frankenrom booted and working. Thanks to:

Neubanks89 for getting the ball rolling...
Metickone for how to get Gapps to work...
MtWebster from Koush's IRC. (Metickone posted his base rom that I started with.)
Steinman for his work and nandroid that I grabbed the libs and random stuff from.

So, here we go.

1) Boots by itself with Gapps included. There still is no set up screen, but you can sign in by hitting any of the Google apps.
2) Camera works.
3) Videos work.
4) WiFi works.
5) You already know the main issues with USB storage and Accelerometer.
6) Phone/Contacts work.
7) It's Gingerbread, and you can use it...what more do you want? :p

Enjoy!

Need more speed? Check this out: Can you use a 2.2 Kernel on GB?? Find out inside...

For those wondering, I took what I had pieced together (How I got Gingerbread + Gapps to work! - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum) with the bin/etc/lib folders from Steinman's nandroid (Gingerbread Rom with gapps and working camera - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum). I think that is all that I did. LoL I dunno for sure. Have not slept in some time now...

I was expecting more out of the source code, I wasn't expecting anything from the Rom.

There are changes made to the source code every so often. There's already a 2.3.1 already. Give it time, it'll come. I'd say by New Years, we'll have a fully functioning one. The biggest leap was getting it to actually run on our phones....now, well, look at it lol. It's working with a few bugs, but hey, it'll come around soon....

It has got to be hard to test a source code when not all of the functions of the ROM are working...if Gingerbread is supposed to be so fast and so great, it is hard to really test that when the browser, and other apps FC all the time....also the UI doesnt seem all that different from what we have seen or even ADW.

No force closes here, beyond the browser. And that is only if you use it to go to Google's site directly. If you set the home page to something else, it works. This is because of the GPS/location services issue. That's also why I posted the other browser since it doesn't have this issue. Running really smooth for me on a 1200 mhz / interactive Slayher kernel. Of course there are the known bugs, but whatever. It's only been out for 2 days. The UI isn't terribly different, but that's a good thing in my opinion. It is essentially an inverted Froyo look, which is what the majority of people want anyway.

This is for fun. You can't expect this to be running 100% any time soon. Another couple of weeks though...might be a different story. If I got this far in a day, not knowing what I am doing... I can't wait to see what some real devs can do once they buckle down and get on it.

Really smooth. The new browser apk will take some gettng used to (but it seems to have some nice features) and my favorite app weatherbug elite will not come up in the market or come back via tibu but other than that it seems pretty nice. Looking forward to more releases. Running really smooth on stock 125/800 kernel, no need for me to change. I am backing up right not and then I will try to change/morph some things...

edit: oops cant send messages, no keyboard pops up?
Thanks!!

GPS seems to not work either.....But this thing absolutely flies!!! I also put the Samsonite Redraw fix in it and works even better with LauncherProPlus

EDIT: This ROM absolutely flies though..... Using Slayher's 1.7 SLV, the one with interactive governor at 1200Mhz. This thing smokes Froyo. The boot time on it from a hard reboot is like 30 seconds tops!!! I can't wait til everything is working on it.....

I also added a few of the MIUI animations to it....Android is getting better and better by the build. Gingerbread is a more polished and refined version of Froyo. It works almost as if it doesn't have flash installed....Smooth and fast.

Stats:
Slayher's 1.7 SLV w/interactive governor at 1200Mhz (1.2Ghz)
Samsonite Redraw Fix
LauncherProPlus w/Gingerbread Theme
MIUI Animations

as soon as i updated google maps the fc's stopped. i havent touched a thing and its been holding up great since last night. I cant wait till gps and accelerometer work...

Yeah maps works for me and everything after I updated it. GPS and accelerometer are the only two left now. Also the keyboard back light and capacitve buttons need work as well. Other than that, Gingerbread is definitely a step up from Froyo. It feels lighter

I just saw the twitter post where the Neubanks and Steinman ROms were advertised. Are those half-baked ROMs also, in that they are having problems with UBS, etc. not working? IOW, is this the conglomeration of all that is good from the other two, plus some behind-the-scenes legwork to make it all work together?

If so, I'll hold off and try Pete's BB 0.6 (FRG83) based ROM. If not, I may give this a shot tomorrow evening when I get home.

Yeah this ROM has USB, Accelerometer, and GPS issues. Also the keyboard and capacitive buttons don't light up... Otherwise everything is magnificent. I wanted to try Bugless Beast, but I'm not sure. I'd be going back to Froyo from Gingerbread.

Gingerbread feels so much more lighter than Froyo. It's like it shaved some
weight off....faster, smoother, and there isnt much lag involved....
