I love this thread. You are in a difficult position Vinsanity... Go for it. What do you have to lose? Maybe you will find out you actually like her, and she is worth the effort. If not, You have a lot of time to find the right one. I miss the days when my troubles were as yours are.

But I wouldn't let it ruin your prom. Unless you have plenty of prospects and she is only one of many who wants to go with you, then I'd say go ahead and take her to prom... what can it hurt? At age 18 she probably wouldn't have stretch marks on her abdomen from gaining and then losing weight. I mean it's possible, but if it turns out she has a lot of stretch marks on her stomach I'd be more inclined to believe it was because she'd had a baby than anything. Still, that certainly doesn't mean it's her step fathers.

High school rumors can be vicious, that much I remember. In 7th grade I was in the mens room zipping my pants up when my buddy walked out of the bathroom just as this little bitch (yes I went through living hell for 2 or 3 years because of this chick, so she definately deserves the title of 'bitch'...) Tiffany was walking past. So she saw my friend walking out of the bathroom, and saw me zipping my pants up... and came to the conclusion that my friend had been giving me a blow job in there and that we were gay. Now there's some top notch deductioning for ya.... why else would someone be zipping their pants while standing in a bathroom? Yep, it's pretty clear the only feasible explanation was that I'd just been given a blow job!

So rumors of me and this guy being gay followed us all the way to high school for our freshman year anyhow. We were pretty much forced not to be around each other because if people saw us talking and what not.... well once again the only reason two guys ever talk to one another is when they're having sex with each other, right? So yeah, I can attest to the fact that high school age kids can be pretty damn cruel to other kids for no reason what-so-ever. And the 'PROOF' that these rumors are sometimes based on can be absolutely ridiculous. Say some guy sees this girl of yours standing next to her step father who's holding a baby.... BAM, automatically the rumor becomes that the baby is theirs when it might not be either of theirs. It could be his grandchild from another child he had in a previous relationship for all anyone knows.

Break it down a little further... is this girl really close to being 19? Because unless she's almost 19 years old and the baby is only a month or two at the most, then if he were indeed the father then he would have gotten her pregnant when she was 17. Which means he wouldn't be standing there with the baby because he'd be in jail for child molestation. I dunno, making any kind of assumptions on a situation like this with such little information is pretty dangerous. We don't know anything at all about this girl so it's hard to say with any certainty at all what the truth of the matter is. I just know that high school rumors can be truly vicious and ruin lives. So if I was in your shoes I think I'd be more inclined to just take my time, get to know her if I liked her, and make my own decisions instead of letting unsubstantiated stories fill my head with bad thoughts. Don't worry about what anyone else is saying... take your time, try to get to know her and follow your instincts.

And have a good time at prom (if you haven't already gone)!

Lol, ok ok in all seriousness though... actually you make a good point. That point is that when it comes to getting women, there is certainly more than one way to skin a cat!

No that strategy I mentioned definately doesn't work with all women, but it would with some. Same with the strategy you mentioned, I have also used that 'reverse pshycology' method in gaining the interest of a woman. There are tons of different ways to go about it, and it depends on the personality of the girl as to which strategy is going to work on them.

Some girls hate ass kissers to be sure. Others won't give you the time of day if you DON'T kiss their ass. And by the way I didn't mean to come across as saying he should kiss her ass, only that compliments and eye contact can be very useful in the pursuit of certain women. A lot of women (but not all) respond favorably to confidence and persistance.

For instance maybe the first time you ask a certain girl out she has her eye on another guy, or maybe isn't interested in anyone for the time being for whatever reason... so she turns you down. The way you react to that rejection is very important, because I can assure you she'll notice how you respond. Like if you take it badly and react like a jerk (which I've seen guys do all too often), then that only reinforces her decision. Which means she'll be thinking to herself she definately made the right move not to get involved with you.

But if you take it in stride and continue to show interest and being plesant around her, then if things don't work out with the other guy she had her eye on, or when she finally comes around and is ready to throw her hat into the ring... then she might change her mind about you and give you a shot.

But that certainly doesn't go for all women. As you point out there are those women who like it when you play hard-to-get. And some women like the challenge of getting a guy who doesn't throw her all kinds of attention when there are plenty of other dudes who are falling all over themselves to shower her with compliments. The more strategies you try out with the ladies and get good at, the better your chances will be at getting the girl you want no matter what kind of personality she has.

And I'm not trying to teach anyone to be a 'player' in this thread. Vince here is a young man who sounds a bit shy to me. And if he's about to go to college it certainly won't hurt him to learn how to flirt and talk to women now before he gets to campus. Learning how to talk to women, get their attention and master different techniques on how to get them interested in him doesn't mean he has to then sleep around with all of them and then dump them so he can go score with someone else. All I want to do here is hopefully help him find ways to interact with women with confidence so that he can find a girl he likes and talk to her comfortably without being afraid of rejection.

That was always my biggest fear when I was younger, that fear of rejection petrified me! I was sooo scared of hearing a girl say no to me that I wouldn't ask them out at all just to avoid that rejection. But like I said in a previous post, just because one girl tells you 'no' doesn't mean you aren't attractive or desirable. You'll never know who's interested in you and who isn't until you talk to them and ask them out. So if you're interested in a girl don't worry about the chance that she may say no, ask her anyways.

You'll be surprised to find out which ones actually do like you, and have been waiting for you to ask them out. Sometimes it's the girl you never would have dreamed would ever say yes to you that has been waiting and waiting for you to notice her and ask her out.

That is very true haha you just have to deal with the rest of the crazyness........

The guy that said chicks like complements thats always true well 99 percent of the time haha and yes ....some chicks test the waters with rejection i know that first hand...... dont go out of your way to complement make it non shulant...... ie how it going beautiful? You study for the test today haha that works about 80% of the time have confedence chicks melt when your man enought to not be nervous..... if at first you dont succede try try again...... even if i meet a chick through a friend and we just start txting i always flirt.... yes some chicks get turned off but some chicks (like the chick im working on now) flirt back and it goes from there and once hooked ie text everyday and then stop texting for a couple day or contacting for a couple days and no matter how hard it is dont do it they will contact you if interested may take upto a week but they will trust me

best advice... dont look/act/hint at desperation.

Why are people so into seeing a pic of an 18 year old to me that seems a little creapy but hey that just me and i highly dought that the chick would like having her pic shared thats like disrespect.....plus can get you in legal trouble haha when i get home from work i may post a picture of a shy girl (that i own copyright to and have a release form for to use how ever i want haha its call cya) and something i have learned as you will when you get older chicks go for the guys that respect them.... young girls still want the bad boys that treat them like crap.....
