That is the leaked official 605.2 version that a few people got before verizon pulled it for some bugs. Then 605.3 (the latest) started going out OTA, which also looks like it was pulled. I was able to install the RUU, then patch it to 605.3 (see my post a few above this), but just know that 605.2 had a few bugs (non-functioning auto backlight is the only one that I didn't like). Also, if you are not rooted before you apply that RUU, you will not be able to root again until a fix for gingerbread is released.

It'd be nice to know if it actually was pulled. For the heck of it I called VZW support and the lady there was clueless (I honestly did expect anything other than that)......lol.

Verizon support clueless? Really? Bwaaaa ha ha ha ha! And I thought I already had my laugh of the day :D

I bet if you call, they still would say there isn't even an update!

I'm right there with you. I had to do a factory reset today, and am still having issues. Not sure what to do next. Very sad, I loved my phone before the update.

I am technologically adept (I used this forum's resources to manually update last time), but waited for and received the Verizon Gingerbread OTA. I concur with the previous comments. Battery life has declined significantly and the Out of Space error is near continuous despite deleting many apps (at space levels that did not cause problems pre-update). I did move all my apps to the phone before updating and moved them back afterwards. I did not have apps disappearing, but the phone is slower and "balkier" now. No random reboots, but the phone has to be judged inferior to pre 2.3. I ordered my DI the first day of pre-orders and, as my last diminished "New Every 2" comes up, I am pretty sure I am headed for an iPhone 5 when they come out. What I used to find "annoying and controlling" in Apple world, now seems "tested, vetted and robust" from this perspective.

In any event, I love this forum, its helpfulness, humor, and (most of the time) civility. Evan, if you are listening, this update is a FAIL.....

I hear where you are coming from and would never try to sway you away from an Apple product (I myself own an iPod Touch and love it) but Apple has released plenty of bug fixes of their own after each major iOS update.

Every software company has bug issues. No testing is ever perfect.

This morning, after bump charging, I booted the phone. Once loaded, I realized that the phone defaulted to Sense. I cleared the defaults, set them to GO Launcher, and "Restarted" from the power down menu. This happened a few more times. Finally, instead of "Restart" I chose "Power Off", then manually turned the phone back on. This seemed to do the trick, as I have been running GO flawlessly since.

As a belt and suspenders, I downloaded Home Switcher to set my defaults. Home Switcher forced itself closed multiple times.

Wondering if anyone else has had this problem? And if so, is there a fix?

Yes this is true. It shouldn't be this way but someone has to be the ginipig, unfortunately its been some incredible owners here. If it has been pulled, I give Verizon credit for pulling it so quickly.

That's exactly what the rep I spoke with last night said. It sucks, but there it is. My hubby tests software for a living, and he says of all the bugs he finds, only the really major program killers are fixed. If the smaller stuff causes issues after release, they work on a patch.

It's a shame but the bottom line is what counts in this world. Get the product out to the customer and the money in to the company. Then fix the product in steps as now the customer is stuck with it.

But, if VZW did pull the update a 2nd time to make some fixes I think that is great. (Of course, one of the reasons is to restore the VZW apps in the Market that correlates to VZW's bottom line!)
