***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I asked this question before and hardly got any responses.

So what phone has Verizon passed on in the past that you really wanted?

We all know the SGSII, but they passed to get the GNex. But I hear this from many people, and am just curious, s I don't really see it. No other phone on any carrier has been appealing to me at all.

The Nexus One. It was supposed to go to Verizon, but Verizon backed out.

VZW exclusive :(. Still hoping i can get the phone unsubsidized through best buy or something on the same day.

Just because it's a Verizon exclusive doesn't mean you can only buy it at Verizon stores. It's just the only US carrier that you can use the phone on.

Now there might still be some kind of exclusivity deal for retail distribution, but we will probably find that out later. As it is we've seen rumors of the SGN being in the Cellebrite systems at Best Buy and Radio Shack

So I've signed up on Google's, Samsung's, and now Verizon's website for the Galaxy Nexus. Who do you think will be the first (and the last) to send info on a release date/pre-order info? First one gets a tip of the hat, the last gets a wag of the finger. It's a race!

I've signed up for all of these also. I'm hoping Google or Samsung are quicker to release info than Verizon. I got an email 20 minutes ago telling me the Razr would be available via pre-order tomorrow. The press release from VZW came out about 14 hours ago.

Question... the article that was posted a few pages back about the comparison between the screens of the Galaxy Nexus and iPhone 4s... should I be concerned that the pictures of the Galaxy Nexus screen were green?
Only the first picture appeared greenish (and also off on the iPhone). The other pictures I see white.

I wouldn't worry about anything unless you see it in person and dislike it. The white balance on the camera taking pics, the temp of the camera flash, and even your own monitors color can affect how pics look.

If you want HD resolution at this PPI in SAMOLED, that's all Samsung can manufacture now. It would be nice to get non-pentile, but I think at this resolution you won't be able to really tell.

If it helps with the question, my second opinion on your answer is - right freaking on. :) So many variables.

And I was surprised - the font difference was big, but this time it's an Android with an attractive font!

PS - Accurate color is a problem with any phone. Although many find SAMOLED on the cool side (greenish blue) it's offset by performance in sunlight (brightness and contrast) and so forth.

Yeah. Also, I doubt VZW exclusive can stop unlocked SIM free's that will make their way here for AT&T and T-Mo somehow or another if you are willing to pay full price.

Via IRC:

@jcase: the verizon phone won't have the same specs as announced...but I'm not telling you what is different.

Never know when he's jacking around or being serious but that lines up with Steven's source. I'm now leaning toward the theory that the speed was bumped up above 1.2, perhaps they got a kernel to run it in a more stable fashion.

I'm hoping the rumor that the Verizon SGN will be larger in size due to a larger battery is false. Hopefully if anything it's a larger capacity battery that remains the same size. I'm not sure at what point they have to make the battery physically larger to have more juice, but obviously it's not an exact science if Seidio can do larger capacity batteries in the same size as the originals for many phones. A fatter phone could possibly turn me away... we shall see

The processor speed being bumped would be cool, but didn't a lot of people say that the difference between 1.2 and 1.5 is basically not even noticeable?

A better GPU would be cool, since I know some people were dissapointed in that as well, but most likely not gonna happen. Lets hope whatever it is (if it's not the battery itself) that it doesn't hurt battery life significantly.

Can we be sure this was something that was changed since Verizon's announcement and not in the works for Verizon the entire time? Nobody's mentioned it yet, so i was considering the possibility of it being 64GB of storage. It's just that it's not a last minute thing. Nothing hardware would be, but I think that if I was going to make a carrier-exclusive hardware change, it would likely be that. Everyone else getting a lower-clocked CPU would be a bit weird for a development platform.

so....does anyone know if you can remove the google search bar at the top of the nexus?

It's most likely the same as Honeycomb, so no.
