I just picked up this phone at closing time last night. Probably too early to comment much but so far,
the complaints i have are the "super hard to press if ur not a girl with nails "power button". Also i have experienced lag with the only game i have as of now (night club story..don't judge me lol). I have downloaded task killer, I'm managing the apps that are open.
The battery so far has not amazed me, i let it run to 10% last night and charged it full, i have been using it quite heavy for 1 hr 30 min and I'm on 70% battery with mixed use of 4G, music, games, Facebook. Luckily i have my charger with me.

Let your battery die out completely and make sure its on the charger for at least a couple of hours before taking it off. I'm in and out of 4g all day long with heavy uses of music, facebook, pandora, surfing and email all day and I've been getting 10+ hours out of the stock battery. It gets unplugged at 4am and by the time I get home from work (normally between 3pm-4pm) its in the red. Conditioning on the first few cycles is key.

I agree with the power button but you do get used to it. I dunno why you're getting lag though. I've been obsessed with blood and glory when I'm on the metro with no problems but then again, I'm not running 1/4 of the apps I had with my DX either.

What's wrong with using the stock task manager? Have you not tried using it or have you not realized it was there on your phone? You shouldn't need task killer anymore, if the stock app is doing the same thing. I played with that feature at the store and it appears it does the same thing as my Advanced Task Killer app.

Alright here is a little bit of background.

My first Android phone was the HTC Droid Eris. I used it for a little over a year and picked it up when it first came out. I chose the Eris over the OG Droid because of Sense. The Eris, as many know, had plenty of short comings and Sense either helped or hurt many of those. It was the first taste of Android for many of us and it really was a love hate relationship with the device. What it lacked in power and storage it made up for in reception and call quality. The long cold winter wait for the update to 2.1 still sticks in my mind though.

My second (long term) phone was the Samsung Fascinate. While the whole concept of putting Bing on an Android phone is still lost on me to this day, it was a pretty good phone. The jump in specs from the Eris made me feel as though the phone could do anything. After rooting it and installing various ROMs it only got better. The phone really did perform well in most areas the only area it really did poorly in was reception. This didn't really matter when I lived in Atlanta, but moving to the barren 3G wasteland that Colorado can be it quickly became a serious issue. Which put me in the hunt for a new phone.

So, I picked up the Rezound over the weekend. So far I like it, but I'm not overly thrilled with it. The reception is far better than my Samsung was and the screen is amazing. I've only toyed with certain features, but after using the Eris for close to a year, the Incredible for a few weeks, the OG Droid for a few days and then the Fascinate I have to say this is by far the best phone I have used. Sense has improved leaps and bounds since the days of the Eris and while I know the dual core processor and 1 gig of ram really help, it still feels better than it did back in the day. Optimized is the best word I can come up with. I like what HTC has done here and I think it really makes the phone. I really missed some of the HTC apps that came with the Eris too, especially Footprints. While I am quite aware that I may be the only person on this forum that has ever used it, I love it. I'm morbidly fascinated with the ideas of what they might do with ICS and Sense. I've also notice that the reception is all around better with the Rezound than it is with any of the phones I own. Even 3G speeds are far better than I've seen in this area before. The one area I notice an issue with is the battery though. It's an HTC device so this was to be expected. I'm still in the "conditioning" phase with the battery though and I hope that it can live up to my daily routine. At this point I am never too far from a charger so the issue isn't a deal breaker, but......

The real question though, does it make me forget about the Nexus? This still comes with a rezounding ;) no, I still long for a pure Google experience. While I like what HTC has done with Sense 3.5 and the overall quality of the phone I still want to see what the Nexus brings to the table. I'm not thrilled with the tweaks that HTC has made to certain core apps just yet. That and little things like the zero shutter lag and NFC along with the idea of straight up ICS and a lack of extra bloat also keep me in the hunt. I'm still in the test drive phase right now though so that could all change. Right now with out the Nexus as an option though I think anyone would be hard pressed to find a better phone on Verizon than the Rezound. While it may look like the Incredible's (1 & 2) older and much beefier brother it really does deserve its own name and identity. Nice work HTC.

So. Are you going to keep it? Or are you gonna return it for the Nexus? Was this your plan all along or did you just get fed up?...

Lol this is only my 2nd smartphone after the htc droid eris. I just downloaded everything i had on there. I also assumed anything on my phone all ready was verizon pre-loaded crap apps.

My girlfriend got the Incredible 2 (cares nothing about 4G or tech at all really) Saturday and I set my parents up with a pair of Galaxy S 2 Skyrockets on Friday. So I realized that the only one out of the four of us that cared anything about getting a new phone was me and I was the only one with out one. So I was in Best Buy, I started playing with phones, one thing led to another and I was walking out with a Rezound. I really shouldn't be left alone in a store full of tech stuff.:D I should never be unsupervised in a store full of phones, three available upgrades and $500 in Best Buy gift cards.;)

So to answer your question, I still don't know. I didn't have a plan either way really. I was just there and the phone seemed pretty cool. I'm still in a test drive frame of mind though so I don't know what will happen. I'll keep playing and make a decision later. I have 14 days to return it for a refund or 30 days to return it for an exchange so I guess I will decide when the time comes.

So on the first charge(7 am - 4 pm Tuesday) the phone lasted about 8 hrs with about 4 hrs use= 1 hr of 4g, 3 hrs wifi while listening to music for 2 hrs and gaming for 1 hr.

I let the battery completely drain, charged it, took about 2-3 hrs to charge full. Then i had 3 hr 30 min of heavy use with about 3 hrs 4g lte while gaming and im'ing and 1 hr wifi while gaming and im'ing. It is now dead.

I'm kinda disappointed at this point, not sure if i should be expecting more?

My version has Footprints on it. I've never used it so I don't know if anything has change between versions but it's there.

Oh, mine has it too. Sorry if that came across wrong. I was just saying that it was one app by HTC that I actually missed from my Eris. I have yet to find another app like it.

If you haven't used it, it is pretty cool little app. It is like setting stared places in Google Maps, but with pictures. Want to save a location for later, snap a picture of it in footprints and it will geo tag it so you can navigate back to it. It is really great on vacation.

You know a pepper grinder would be cheaper right? :p

LOL Although it is true that I have not been pepper grinder shopping in a while, but I don't remember them having dual-core processors or 4g.

This phone REQUIRES the extended battery. Go buy it. It's still comfortable to hold. I'll trade snazzy thinness for battery life any day. I get through an entire day with my battery at around 50% with heavy use.

I don't necessarily agree with this. While not a heavy user, I'm getting over two days out of the stock battery. I have WiFi on most of the time, emails, some 4g, surfing, calls, etc. I do try to manage apps and syncing through the task manager and running apps.

Unless you really stress your device or have poor reception, I don't think the extended battery is a necessity.

Power button takes some getting used to, yiou have to hit it just right.

Oh and GET RID OF THE TASK KILLER! It does more harm than good. I really believe at this point that the android OS is the best one to determine what is running on your phone at any given moment

Glad to see you came to your 'senses' LOL!

Hope you stick with it (thought the gnex does sound nice, just not for me)

Not so sure about requires... I get around 8 to 14 hours depending on usage... it has not been a problem so far. That said I have the extended on my Inc and can see me using the extended on this as well.

I love this phone though:)

I do like it, but I am still on a trial with it right now. Not sure if I like enough to keep it just yet.

No. Android OS is well capable of discarding least recently used apps to make more RAM available, but there is no way that it can read your mind to decide what particular background apps you want to stop synchronizing with a server or otherwise tying up CPU and I/O resources. Task killers still serve a purpose.

I agree with your thoughts. I was in Best Buy today and was playing/listening with the Rezound w/the Beats earphones. The demo app was running and I couldn't get it to stop. It was acting as if it had full and total control of the phone. You couldn't do anything else on the phone; if you tried, it would simply revert back and start the demo playing again. I had to quickly get into the apps running tray and force stop the dam thing so it would stop.

Has anyone considered just sticking with 3G? Admittedly, I don't have 4G in my area yet, so I don't know what I'm missing, LOL, but when my phone gets here tomorrow I'll be curious to see if I run into any of these battery issues. When we do get 4g, I'm not sure how eager I'll be to use it. I've never had any complaints with 3g and if it means better battery life...

While that is true, about the only time I use a task killer is to stop an app that has hung or won't shut down. But, I don't use anything like facebook or the like that pings a server alot. The only things I'm syncing is Google (gmail, calendars, contacts, etc.) on push and Weather every hour. So I can see if you're using a lot of social apps and such where that could come in handy.
