[ROM]MIUI.us DefX - Part 2 (2012.1.30 + 1% Battery, No Charge LED, Updated Bootmenu) - RootzWiki

This is MIUI 2012.1.30, created from Miui 1.12.9 on DXC's 1.10.21 DefX with ongoing support and additions..

This is for the DROID X on the GINGERBREAD KERNEL.

Discussion for 2012.1.30 began at this post in this thread: http://rootzwiki.com...post__p__433436

What's new?

  • bootmenu has been updated to include the following
    • CPU Overclocking / Undervolting
    • Governor Selection
    • Full CWM integration (you can flash full roms, etc now)
    • Enabled adb at bootmenu to help recover from previously SBF forcing mistakes
  • 1% battery
  • No charging LED
FWIW, you'll find the 1% battery, boot menu and no charging LED in other MIUI builds (Galnet) soon as well. :D

I cant believe how camera dependent i have become in the past few years. Im waiting on the ICS camera solution so I loaded up what I thought was the latest MIUI just this morning only to find that the damn camera takes blurry pictures! Sweet! I have the paid vignette but it is so slow I cant stand to use it. Might just have to go back to Liberty3 and deal with it.

I flashed this lastnight and to my disappointment the only thing I see different is the no charging light. Everything else is still the same. Ringtones not working, incoming call screen can't do a damn thing with it, etc.

I will no longer be flashing any version of MIUI. I understand our devs can't get it right becuase of Chinas code. But this is just a dog chasing his tail. Nothing is getting fixed. Just updated with the same problems.

I'm just gonna SBF this sucker back to stock and leave it alone. It's going to the wife anyway and I'm getting a Galaxy S2.

sounds like my complaint about cm7 a while back. the devs seemed to think it was more important to add language packs than to fix hardware bugs. i realize it isnt nice to complain about someones work they are doing for free, but it is frustrating.
just want to make this known: i appreciate the devs for all their work, i sure as hell couldnt do their job

My frustration isnt aimed at our devs. I know the core problem they are facing. But it is frustrating nontheless. I guess the only way we are gonna get a solid build is to, well, get an Iphone....lol.
I have an upgrade now but am waiting for the 5....I will say this, this is the best rom that ive used with this phone. Granted ive only used apex and stock, but when someone makes a better program that the people who make the damn phone thats saying something. Battery life is unreal on this rom btw...

I posted this over in the miui.us forums, but I don't think they have as much foot traffic of people who know what they're talking about... Long story short: the usual steps to get into reovery aren't working for me now... What can I do besides sbf? I am using the latest version of rom manager fwiw.

"
So I see three changes that might be keeping me out. I loaded 1.30 with the 1%, LED, and new boot menu. It could be the ROM screwing up, it could be the new boot menu screwing up, it could be that I followed directions on phandroid (for a change) and tried going into terminal emulator and typing su and cat.jpg to get to recovery straight from CWM.

the first attempt (cat.jpg followed by rebooting from CWM) got stuck at the M. After a battery pull I tried it again with the same results. Then I tried down button at the blue LED on reboot (new boot menu had a bunny with a harmonica in the cayanogenmod circle?) navigate to recovery, hit CWM recovery it says it is rebooting into it, then does a full reboot without pausing at the recovery menu I long for. I also tried cat.jpg and hitting CWM Recovery in the reboot menu resulting in a lockup at the M.

I could sbf, but that is a plan B, and for all I know I'm an idiot who will have this problem again.

Thanks for any help guys! "

I'm trying to figure out what you've done and I'm lost....

What rom/version did you start with?

How did you install MIUI? (format data? format system? format cache?)

Did you wait long enough for it to boot (> 5 minutes)?

I started of on an older version of MIUI, I formated system, cache, and delvik cache, installed this version of MIUI (2012.1.30), ran it for a day loving every one percent of it, then went to switch to the GALNET version with 1% etc.

This is when I followed instructions to go to terminal emulator and su/cat.jpg which I've never done before, and rebooted from CWM, which I haven't done since the bootstraping days. I waited six minutes this time and still sitting at the Red M of Death....

It may also be noteworthy that once I battery pull/restart after one of these freezing events the blue/green light doesn't flash during the first reboot and the battery says 100% until I restart it another time.

Any more questions for me? Also, what does su/cat.jpg do? Can I do something with root explorer or terminal emulator to verify that is/isn't doing its job? Can I do its job manually? Any other backdoors into recovery from MIUI that I haven't tried?

Thanks for the help BTW! :D

All su/cat does is enable Rom Manager to work until you reboot. So backup, install a rom, boot into recovery would work briefly.

The instructions say to mount system before installing (and mount system before formatting), but I read that isn't needed any more. I still do that tho. They also say to format data, which I didn't need to do when switching MIUI's, but that was a version or two ago.

When the blue light comes on, you're supposed to be able to press a button to enter recovery, one of the volume buttons I think. Same thing with my HP touchpad, that's why I can't keep them straight. :D

Did you make a backup in recovery recently? Worst case you could sbf, root, then restore your backup. Best case, hit the blue light and restore backup and try again.

Otherwise from recovery, I'd wipe both caches and format data, then reboot to try to recover your phone.

Can anyone who has tried this build and the MIUI ICS build comment on which might have better radio?

I've been on Galnet for a couple of weeks and still see persistent issues when going from WIFI to 3G and back or even apps that pull 3G not being able to do so even though I may have 2-3-4 bars of service (missing 3G logo)..Havent tried Wiz's yet - but, dont know if that will make a difference as the problem could be for all MIUI builds..

any info would be appreciated (maybe someone has an answers vs days of my own testing to come up with an answer)..thanks.
