Screen protector - for best feel?

So I have the basic screen protectors from verizon. I've never touched the actual screen (maybe I could check out the store model to see if it is naked), so I don't know how the screen feels.

But I find mine (w/ screen protector) to be a bit plastic feeling and a bit sticky. My BB storm naked screen was smooth as glass and felt hard to the touch.

1. Is the naked GNex screen glassy feeling and glides easily?
2. What screen protector is best for maintaining that smooth glassy feeling?

Any comments on how specific screen protectors feel in comparison to the naked screen are much appreciated...

  1. Yes, the naked screen feels great
  2. The closest I have found has been the SGP Steinheil Oleophobic SP. It gets a lot of flak because it has about a 2mm gap all the way around the edges, but it definitely preserves the feel the best.

The stock vzw screen protectors have a bit of a gap, maybe same - 2mm, I use the incipio 2-piece case, and it covers that gap for the most part. Do you think the Steinhall gap is bigger than the one on the vzw stock?

What about durability? my vzw screen protector has quite a few micro abrasions on it already (only noticeable with screen off and shining the light just right on a clean screen).

I'm pretty happy with my XO Skin.

Definitely not this if you're looking for a glassy feel. It might be less sticky than other wet application protectors but it's nowhere near as slick as the VZ ones. I took a hit and returned my XO ones for that and other reasons and am using the VZ ones. They're not as smooth as the bare glass, and I doubt any protector will be, but it's better than the XO in terms of slickness.

If it is bigger, not by much (I just measured it and it is 2.5mm all around).

Durability-wise I notice no micro-scratches at any angle/light.

Also, with the diztronic TPU case there is still about a 1.75mm gap all around.

Steinheil Ultra Oleophobic FTW. Couldn't stand the extra drag the XO skin had.

Just FYI, Zagg just came out with Invisibleshield HD for iPhone. I just got it for my iPhone. Much less orange peel...and smoother too!! Screen looks better. I had XO and this particular Zagg HD is better...not as sticky as XO! Just not as smooth as PowerSupport clear but close.

So, I would wait for Zagg to come out with HD on the GN...it is better than XO if u like those type of screen protectors (wet app).

All the protectors I have tried have not had so much of a gap but you can see where the edges don't adhere to the screen.
Its really annoying, and looks nasty.

Wondering if the ones with a gap adhere 100% to the screen?
All my edges have stayed down (thus far) and this is the reason SGP gave for the gap, that the contour messes with the edges.

I've had the verizon one on since I bought it. I'm pleased with the feel and clarity....and above all the price. At first the fact that it didn't go to the edge of the screen annoyed me, but I think that ones that go to the edge inevitably start to come up from having an edge exposed. I don't even notice it anymore.

The only things I don't love about the verizon one are that it is a grease magnet and it does show fine scratches. Neither bugs me enough to take it off though.

I have had hard dry protectors fail in the past. The wet ones give you the best clarity and protection. For the first few days the xo skins was a lil sticky, but got smooth. This stickiness isnt any stickier than rubbing my fingers on a counter top, just depends on how moist your fingers are. There is a reason companies like zagg or xoskins have gotten big, their stuff is strong. XO has the best feel and look out of all the wet ones imo.

Do you wear condoms for "the feel"?

I spent just under 2 years with a Droid x with a screen protector from day one.
the last month I had it I ran it naked and regretted ever having the screen protector.

If the Nexus gets a big enough gouge to hinder clarity then I will swap it out, However there is a price to this luxury.

Same goes for cases, I ordered the Cruzer lite Andy the android case becuase it looks so damm cool and I can find the charger whole in the dark. Not for protection.

HAHA! No, but it do wear one for protection from sabertoothed crotch crickets. The xoskin doesnt distort the quality and keeps my from scratching my screen.

I'm just about at the 3 month mark on my first vzw screen protector, and although it has many micro-abrasions upon extremely close inspection, I don't see myself changing it anytime soon...

It still feels too plasticky, and I do miss the glass feel of the BB Storm, but I think I'm over it...
