External portable chargers

I wonder if anyone will make a battery case for the phone. To me that would be more useful than an external battery.

I'd like it to be these guys.

I've been meaning to write them to learn their plans, just too busy lately.

I do wonder, with the speaker at the bottom and the kickstand in the middle, how much they could do with the space available though. :hmmmm:

I'd be willing to lose temporary use of the kickstand for a battery case. I'd only be using it for all-day events like conventions or concert festivals and the like, where the need for the kickstand will be nil.

I'm sending an email to them now asking if they're planning on making one for the LTEvo.

Being that I'm going to have a long travel for my vacation this summer, I'm probably going to need an external battery. Unless Amtrak has wall sockets by the passenger seats?
The Amtrak trains I've been on in the NorthEast Corridor route (NYC > DC), have had outlets, although I think it may vary by car. The Acela definitely does, and I believe Business Class on the regular train does. The coach car might, this one I'm not as sure of.

So do they make any with the usb attached where you can just plug it into the computer and not worry about carrying the battery thing and the cable? The guy I go out with is buying us both one cause I won him this 69.95 Seidio Convert Combo case and holster thing and he had one for his 3D and absolutely loved it.

But he said he didn't want to have to carry around a little box and cable both in fear of losing the cable if he didn't have too. He said he was going to search to see if they made one with the cable attached. But I thought I would ask here. I looked at a couple not too long ago on Amazon but the cable wasn't attached don't even know if there made like that but I found like a 3300 or 4400 one then I found a good 5200 one for like 33 bucks I think. It said if you like this you'll like and they showed 8400 ones for like 40 something but I don't need one that high I don't think. I just want something that will charge my phone 2 maybe 3 times max like if I am somewhere out of town and out all day. I hope I don't have to use it much. I am always near a plug and got 12 hours of juice yesterday before I had to charge. If our battery is 2000 does the 4400 one mean it will charge your phone twice and like the 8400 one mean 4 times?

Anyway I was wondering if they do make one with the cable attached and if not I don't care. This Power Mat charger I used to have came with a small cable like the one that came with one of my old bluetooth headsets so I would have extras in case we lost them. But the couple I looked at on Amazon had good reviews. I just wanted recommendations of one from people here and I will check into 'JustMobile Gum Pro' I'm gonna google it. Thanks! The I had one on Amazon I had been looking at 5200 amh for like 33 bucks and I closed out my browser by accident and lost all my open tabs.

Found something, but I don't know if it's be real ... ;)

"This charger connects your phone to a wall power outlet for simultaneous talk and charge. Features a high-capacity internal battery for charging while on the go.

*1800mAh Lithium Polymer Internal Battery
*Built-in Micro-USB Cable and USB port"

http://schwops.co.uk/item.php?ptitl...one pgu3939v&pcat=-batteries&eid=370596236073

... and the battery capacity is very small.

I had the power skin with my Htc Inspire and loved it, it was the best i would get the battery to last all day no matter what i did to it! I dont care if they dont have a kickstand opening on it i would still buy it because i know they work well!

Received a reply:

"Regret that EVO 4G LTE is currently not on our current product road map. If there is any chance we are developing PowerSkin for the phone, we would be glad to keep you updated.

Instead of PowerSkin, may we recommend you Energi To Go universal serial charger?
Although they are not docking charger type, the changeable tip design will allow users to use the power pack support different device. For mobile phones, we will recommend XP2000"

Of course, that could just be a form response. Seems like they'd be losing out on good money not releasing a battery case for a popular phone that has no removable battery.

I just ordered this one. Dude does a pretty good video review in comments/review section.

http://www.amazon.com/Anker-5600mAh-External-Flashlight-Motorola/dp/B005K7192G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338069632&sr=8-1

Got this in the mail on Thursday and played around with it for a bit. I'm digging it so far. Nice, compact, solidly built. Comes with a good array of connectors too. I'll try to do a full charge on the LTEVO and post how long it takes...but so far, thumbs up!

It's a good charger. I think the Anker is just a name brand that uses the same package as other packs on Amazon like the Powergen (just a guess). Anyway, I have used the older version Powergen 4400mah and Anker 8400mah dual usb packs and both are great. Usually on Amazon, the retailer of the Anker has a sale where if you buy 2 models, they give a discount.

The Anker 8400 is a dual usb charger, 600mah and 2ah output. The 5600 Anker I think uses a 1ah output so it mostly works for phones. I think some tablets require at least 2ah.

So the Anker 5600 is a good one to buy. I need one like now. My phone died on me tonight while out. I need a good one that will charge kind of quick and let me use it while charging if I have too. How long does it usually take to charge your phone back up? I would say if I am down to like 25% just to get me back to 50 would be good enough for me. But tonight the signal sucked where I was and I had auto sync on and it died by around midnight or a little later and was on 90 something at 7pm. My friend is buying one of these too so will we get a discount for buying two? And the 8400 one does that mean it will charge faster or that it can just charge your phone more times? Thanks!

The Anker's chargers will charge your phone as fast the wall charger which came with the phone ... if you use that cable which comes with the Anker's :)
I use the Anker 5600 with my One X.

5600 and 8400 are mAh, the capacity of the Anker charger's battery.
So, the 8400 will charging your phone more times as the 5600 :)
Should do it about three times fom 20% to 100%

I went out all day yesterday to Balboa Park in San Diego, and I knew that my EVO would not last all day since it was gonna be my main camera.

I looked on the web for a couple days, and decided to order the incredicharge 11,000 battery. Amazon.com: Incredicharge I-11000 External Battery Pack and Charger 11000mAh Capacity for iPad2, iPad 3, HP Touchpad iPhone 4 4s 3Gs 3G, iPod Touch, Samsung Galaxy Note S S2, HTC Sensation Evo Thunderbolt Blackberry, Droid X Razr Maxx, Nintendo, Sony

The charger has 3 outputs. 2 USB at 800ma, and one at 2 amps. I used the 800 one, and the EVO saw it as AC power, so that was good for me.

Yesterday, I took about 200 pics, along with using the phone for Facebook and instagram.

I topped up my phone from ~60% to ~90% 2-3 times, and at the end of the day the incredicharge still displayed 87% remaining!

Overall, I really recommend this charger. It's kinda expensive from amazon right now, but it's gone as low as $40. I would use camelcamelcamel to set up an alert for when the price goes below whatever you pick.

So he wants the 3300 one cause it's smaller for pocket and the usb is built in. Is there not one in a 5600 with the usb built in? Wonder if I should just get a 3300 also. But then for 10 bucks more I think 56 would be better. Also I have like two short cords somewhere that came with older blue tooth headsets like my old jawbone and blueant so I could just use that cord right instea dof worrying about adapters? Thanks we are ordering tonight and it looks like the powergen 5200 and Anker 5600 are similar. Same as for him 2900 over 3300 not much difference. The smaller ones both have built in usb and I may like that better. So I can't decide now 33 or 56. LOL!

i mentioned earlier in this thread i also picked up the incredicharge 1100mah unit. it has charged everything ive plugged into it. BT phones, lte evo, ps vita. charges the phone using AC charging and not USB charging (included charge cable) swiftly. recommended for sure.

from the review it seams the output to the phone is via USB. I'm confused

EDIT: I guess this review expains it
"This device has one major flaw. It requires you to carry yet another cable, and if you lose it, you're out of luck. It really appears that the people who design this stuff don't actually use them, or talk to people who do use them. These devices need to use standard plugs (would it have been that hard to make the charging port a mini or micro USB? Really? Come on. The best answer is to have an integrated cable, but apparantly that's too hard as well.

I have to give it only 2 stars because it doesn't really matter how good it is at charging stuff if the unit itself has such a fundamental design flaw to charge itself."

probably won't be getting this and get the Anked/PowerGen 8400mAh. Looks like the best choice. Big enough capacity, smaller form factor and all USB charging (in & out)
