Root [ROM][ALPHA] CyanogenMod 10 for the LG Connect 4G MS840

I haven't managed to get data working for me

When I could get data wrkn on cm10 it was for like mayb 5mins (basically long enough to set up my gmail and download an app) but that was on the 2nd to last update. On the last couple of updates I couldnt get data to wrk at all and I even lost my signal on the one, but have rectified that thx to all the help I recieved here and havent had that problem since. The data from what ive been reading on here is pretty indecisive with everyones phone it kinda reminds me of cm7 on the ascend how almost everyone had either probs with mms not working or some being able to oc to the max and others only being able to oc a little, but with that phone it usually came down to not all phones being created equally, but with this phone we deff know our phones aren't equal with all the diff version's. Hey pg I gotta question for ya..(u probably have looked into this already but it dont hurt to ask)... is there another carrier other than metro that uses the 4g sim card that has a fully functioning version of cm running on it (ported or not) and if so r there any similar phones that u could use the ril or look into what they did to get the ril functioning on it cause it seems like this 4g sim thing may have been a preventive step to keep us from getting ics or jb update like the locked bootloaders on the motion and spirt not sure about the gs3 as that phone has almost a world wide support group for gsm and cdma being on multiple carriers. Thx pg and I have the upmost confidence that u'll get this beast hammerd down, sometimes u gotta take it out back and slap it around a few times to knock some sense into it.....lol :) :)

We're using it already lol, from the lucid. I could try using the ril shyt from the vipers ics, if I can find a system dump from it.

WOW! Thanks all for working on this I can't wait till it's done cause I will definitely be switching to it. I have tried all the roms for this phone and they all make my phone ghost reboot about 2 to 3 times a day. I'm really looking forward to running this rom when it's finished, can't wait! Keep up the great work PG! U are the man and I'm definitely bookmarking this thread! B-)

just a thought, I seen on another forum for another phone that once they flashed CM10 they had to update their phones modem to the newest in order for the data to work, is this something we should try? maybe taking it from VV3 being that data seems to return once returning back to VV3? I know its a long shot but hey!! Im willing to try any and all options :D

I dont think it was but to be honest I cant remember where I seen it at, I think I posted a link a few pages back about where I first seen someone talk about needing to update the modems in order to get the data to work on CM10. But im sure it was done with other phones as well which is why I figured I should mention it here, how could we get the modems from VV3 and make them flashable?

There's a way to do that with fastboot. I don't know how to make it flashable via recovery though.

You can root VV3 and pull the baseband/radio in a terminal with dd, using commands shown in this post (the spec has the same radio partitions as the lucid/connect I believe). Someone pulled them in another rom thread as well, but I'm not sure if the zip is flashable.

You could probably download the spectrum flashable baseband and replace the img files with the ones you pulled to make it flashable. Connorh333 used a similar method for the lucid's ZV8 and it worked out fine.

Is someone able to pull VV4? Or does that require root?

Root is evidently required to dd the block files required to pull VV4. I don't have a connect so I can't look for an exploit, but I would like to see if the idea I posted in another thread works to get root on VV4. This method may have been tried before, but it worked on a lucid so I think it's worth investigating.

Interesting, that may actually work.

so...does someone have to flash cm10 and then flash this baseband to see if it fixes data? Is that it?
Im not sure how to make the baseband flashable but I did want to try this and the modems from VV3 on the Cm10 to see if data works, Ive seen that it helped/worked for another phone that was having the same data issue we are having and being that data gets fixed after flashing over to VV3 I figuered it wouldnt hurt to try and if it dont work then we can just mark it off out list :D does anyone know how to swap the baseband and modems from VV3 to Cm10?

Get a boot.img, if you need one, just make a backup of current ROM and you'll find boot.img on sd card
Go into recovery, wipe /boot
Reboot phone
You are now in fastboot, to get out you simply do:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot continue

How to get the baseband and how to flash it is beyond me. You must find the list of partitions first.

Edit: here are the blocks...which one is the baseband?

So how close do you guys think y'all are to getting something to try to fix data O_O

Edit:https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fbz5u7lv26uqjx3/B3VWZifwlz/baseband.zip so what could this link do with cm10 could it help its vv3 baseband that shatterproof posted

Just flash in CWM.
Believe I put vv3 in this when I was playing with the basebands from the lucid (Which didnt not work at all!!!). ;)

And has anyone tried Framaroot on vv4?
