Q: General Android phone FAQ's?
A: Here is a thread on general Android Phone FAQ's

Q: How can I improve my battery life?
A: Smartphones operate on a sort of spectrum. On one end you could put battery life, on the other end all those options like wifi/3g/sync (among other things). If you want great battery life you can't have those on all the time. If you want those on all the time, you won't get great battery life. It is best to find the compromise that works best for you and what you want most out of your phone. Here are a couple of things that you could consider - adjust the screen brightness, do not use live wallpapers, switch off networks when not in use (WIFI, Bluetooth, GPS), adjust update intervals for widgets (do you really need twitter/facebook notifications every half hour?). You could also consider downloading a battery monitoring app such as JuiceDefender.

Q: Are there any *Manufacturer* *Model* Tips & Tricks?
A: For any tips, if you use the "filter by" and select "Tips" in the sub-forum, you will get many useful tips and tricks.

Q: What are some of the problems people have with their *Manufacturer* *Model*?
A: For any problems and their solutions, if you use the "filter by" and select "Support" in the sub-forum for useful information.

Q: I have a question about how to do something around the forums.
A: Here is a FAQ devoted entirely to that: Android Forums FAQ

Q: What is root?/What does being rooted mean?
A: Here is a post explaining that: What is rooted/does being rooted mean?

I can't believe Verizon is not going to have this phone on launch day. I was really looking forward to this phone, as I have had previous HTC devices such as the the Incredible and Thunderbolt. I will be out of contract in March, and Verizon may have just pushed me away from them, but who will it be my new carrier, ATT, Sprint or T-Mobile? The research begins.

I heard the price would be about $700-$775 when it comes out, but i don't know if thats true. What do you guys think the price will be? Also will they have a new line of devices? Do you think they will build off of this phone or not. Also, it seems like this is one of the, if not the first phone of the new Android generation/Wave of phones. What do you think will improve as this generation goes on.

I want to hear what you guys think.

My Amaze 4g on T Mo has this problem there are massive delays when its being used as a phone. For instance lets say im on the phone and I need to look something up as soon as I pull it away from my face it goes black then I have to hit the power button and scroll down the top menu to get back to the phone screen. sometimes this is just a struggle. Other times it will lag when im say selected a phone number on navigation I need to call. Sometimes many seconds go by and sometimes it doesn't even do it. Any problems like that with the HTC One? its really hard to multitask sometimes.

I haven't seen this posted up anywhere here yet, and it can be quite helpful for others. Here is the link for the official User Guide for the HTC One (worldwide site).

HTC - Wordwide site | HTC One User Guide Link

And the Support page for the HTC One featuring a number of help topics, FAQ, and now even some video guides.
HTC - Wordwide site | HTC One Support Page

The U.S. HTC One will undoubtedly have a very similar User Guide and Support page, with a few key changes depending on mobile carrier.

Mod Note, please move this info/post to the previously established sticked FAQ at the top of the board? Thanks!

I've skimmed through most of the threads on here and haven't found the answers I'm looking for. I'm on AT&T and want the Black HTC One 64GB. I've gone in to several stores and talked to some reps. None of them have been able to tell me anything other that the Silver One is available for pre-order and the Black One should be available later, possibly on the 19th. So does this mean I will not be able to pre-order it and take advantage of the free media link?

Does anyone know if the Developer edition will be available in Black? Since I'm on AT&T and may want to root my One, this may be something I'm interested in.

If I can't pre-order the Black One, I may just pre-order the Silver 64GB One, and get the free media link. Then sell the Silver One for $500 bucks or so, and then just order the Developer edition if it's available in Black.

For those interested, I'm getting the Poetic Atmosphere Case. I REALLY like the look of the back of the phone and want to show it off. However, I've read the Black One picks up finger prints much easier. So the Atmosphere will offer great protection, while allowing me to show off this sexy phone!

Thanks!

Doing a bit of research, just wondering what version of Android are you all running on your US HTC One's If you could list your carrier too, that would be great, if not, I can check the side bar to see if you got a carrier listed.

Also, let me know if you are running Stock (rooted or unrooted, it don't matter) or a custom rom.

Thanks!

what carrier are you on?
was the phone rooted?
this is your second phone yes? did the first phone do it?

was it being charged thru the wall/AC, portable battery pack, or computers usb port?

this is not normal. there are any number of reasons as to why this can happen--could be a rogue app, abnormal charging condition, faulty usb charge cable, phone could have had damage from dropping it (not saying you dropped it), etc.

if it does it again, take it to your local shop and have the diagnose or request a new unit if within your carriers' return window.

you should also open a ticket with HTC and have them be aware.

Just as the title says. My phone was charging around 99% at work on my desk, and out of the blue my phone factory resets. Has anyone else experienced this or know how this could have happened? I am clueless and extremely frustrated with this phone lately. Thanks.
THis same thing happened to me except my phone had just died. I put it on the charger and after a few mins tried to boot it up and everyhting gone... It was a wall charger. I hadn't really installed many apps just got the phone.

Hello everyone,

If you would like to control any TV with your HTC One, you can try this user-friendly application which does not require any external hardware or internet connection. We will be constantly updating the app to add more devices. If your device is not supported please send us your device info and we will add it for you.

HTC One Universal Remote

For all the features available, check the application description and screenshots. Feel free to offer any suggestions :)

happened after plugging it into the usb port of my new 09 sante fe,
locked in landscape, a restart fixed it, than it would not charge.
I had to power it off to get it to take a charge.

After trying it in the car again to see what it would do I got a "wrong charger error"
But brought it inside and it charged normally.
Woke up this morning. Stuck in landscape... Factory reset, still stuck in landscape.

Not sure what the hell it's doing, anyone seen this happening to the HTC One yet?

Thank you

P.S. Long time reader, just created an account to post this :)
