If you're looking for a solution to the slippery feel WITHOUT donning a case, look no further:

HTC ONE M7 Screen Protector

Note the ever-present 40% discount code @ the top of the page,or,GOOGLE for a better discount (periodically).

The following discount code 80OFF2 is active. :D

thanks, got the 80% off on a pair of the full body protection pieces. 2 sets were less than $5 including shipping. At first it did not go thru...so i was going to take the 25% off after it said the 80% expired on 8/18, but next thing i knew i clicked on rush handling for .99 and it refreshed to show me getting 80% off. Might be a bug...but it went thru paypal charging me $4.99 shipped.

My only two complaints on the Verizon HTC One..Blinkfeed makes me want to stab a baby...and the amount of available screen space wasted by the heavy black border...again..stabbing a baby comes to mind.

You don't notice that huge black border in the screen shots because they always show the screen with a black background.

But once i figure how to remove blinkfeed i will be fine.

Hi,

Since this phone was just released on Verizon I wanted to get feedback from HTC One owners to get a sense (no pun intended) if the phone was still worth picking up, given that it's been on the market several months already and phones with newer/better specs are starting to trickle in for the fall shopping season. I know the old adage of if you wait for the next big thing you'll never end up with anything, but I would like to get some info to make an informed decision.

So what say you the owners - still loving the One?

This thread will give you answers to your question.

and you said it best:

if you wait for the next big thing you'll never end up with anything

at some point you need to get off the "Wait and see" bandwagon and start enjoing something.

my suggestion is to go to the store, pick up the phone. look at it. touch it. become one (pun fully intended) with it. take it for a spin for a week-10 days-if you dont like it , return it for a refund, then moveOn.org to "the next best thing". Rinse.repeat.

only you know if this phone will work for you in your environment and with your expectations. you are coming onto a pro htc one thread asking if its still worth it. yes it is worth it. htc have developed their best phone to date, and I have use htc one products since 2001 exclusively (that is why I have "htc user" under my forum name).

the device/carrier forum should give you more honest views from others who may have tried the one and returned it or had some other device and returned it to get the one.

in the end, its up to you.

happy mobile phone hunting....:)

i just picked my up this weekend from verizon...i was on the fence about getting it/not getting it. So glad i got it...its a super cool phone and a HUGE leap forward from my Rezound.

I don't expect Verizon to have anything on the horizon that will completely make this phone obsolete. I am not a fan of the motorola phones..

I've had my one for about a month now. I wanted to be able to give a more honest review after the honeymoon period.

I love the phone.

As a phone, the sound quality is great, on both ends. I have yet to run into any issues with the antennas in the phone. I get signals and lose signals in the same places I did with my HTC rezound on Verizon, I switched to at&t specifically to get the One and find coverage is pretty much the same. It's difficult to know if the antennas are better or worse than previous phones due to the carrier switch but it seems to get a stronger WiFi signal than my rezound did. Over all, I would guess the aluminum body doesn't hurt the signal strength. I only mention this because of early fears the One would suffer signal issues.

I also read reviews that complained about slow GPS lock, I have not experienced this at all. It seems to lock just fine for me and do so quickly without any difficulty.

Texting is something we do probably more than anything else with our phones and the ones keyboard is awesome! I've used swype on all my previous android phones. I didn't bother installing it on the One. Its version is every bit as good, if not better. I also love the customized texting screen. Very cool to have options to significantly change the look without going with a third party app.

Every android phone I've ever owned had weak external speakers. Having to cup your hand behind it to barely make out sound in even modestly noisy environments. The HTC One is the first phone I'm actually having to turn down! I even use it as a bed side radio.

The design is beautiful but not without its faults. It is a slippery phone in hand. This has been fixed with the application of an Xtreme guard film. (Absolutely wonderful product and price BTW). The rounded back makes texting or typing difficult if the phone is sitting on a table, like at lunchtime at work...but it's a small quibble. I find the phone to be beautiful and very sleek looking. It feels very satisfying in the hand. The weight and coolness of the aluminum feels, well, like a real premium device. No other way to explain it.

If you're reading this you probably already know the screen is incredible. It has a wide viewing angle and is actually perfectly viewable in direct sunlight! This is the first phone I've owned that you could see clearly in direct sunlight.

The "ultra-pixel" camera, I'm still not quite convinced. The rezound took crisp beautiful photos, even when blown up. This camera takes some very nice photos but to my eye they just don't seem as well defined and crisp. I will need more time fiddling with it before I can say definitively that its not as good. The software however is really great. The Zoe feature is cooler than I thought, you can use it like a burst, selecting the best photo. You can also let the phone stitch zoes and stills together to create a very cool video clip.

Battery. From what I gathered on the net prior to buying the One was that I may not be able to make it past eight hours on charge. I'm happy to say, I get 12-14 hours easily on work days. If at home and I sit playing games, reading the net and watching YouTube, yea, I'll get like five or six hours out of it. At work, I would be swapping out my rezounds battery for a fresh one after four hours or so. The One gets me through my entire shift (12 hours) with 50-60% on average left. That's keeping the battery saver feature on of course. In use, I don't notice a slow down in performance using the battery saver but after running benchmarks with it off and on, it definitely slows it down. But like I said, I don't notice it with use playing games or watching video etc. So in my opinion, the battery is fantastic.

As far as performance goes, the phone is smooth and fast. Have yet to see any sort of lag. Obviously its top tier at this moment, so that's to be expected.

I'll be honest, I've always loved sense. I love the pretty matching widgets, the cool 3-d effect on older versions. Sense 5 seems stripped down. I don't care for the new widgets, the clock was a big disappointment to me. It's more like functional and simplified I guess. I thought I would also hate blink feed but I actually love it! I really enjoy the easy access to internet articles and the customization to tailor it to my taste. I still have it on the farthest page to the left but visit it often. Aesthetically I don't like the 4x4 layout. The power control widget doesn't look good stretched tall due to the 1x1 square being taller than it is wide. I wish I could change the layout on home screens. Not a deal breaker but it just bugs me.

Over all, I am very happy with the phone. It vanishes in my pocket and is easy to carry. It looks incredible (in stealth black) and performs perfectly. It's the first phone I've had strangers ask me "woah, what kind of phone is that?". Guess they must be living under a rock....or maybe just aren't as into cool gadgets.

I would highly recommend this phone to friends and family.

After using Samsung products for a couple of years, I've gone back to HTC, the Eris being my first Android phone.

This HTC One is a class puppy, looks and performance wise.

Gripes first; pretty minor as they are:

- My Note 2 never heated up with use, no matter how many programs were open or whether or not location boxes were checked (GPS, etc). This thing gets noticeably warm from back to front, annoying at first, but understandable knowing what's working under the hood. I to admit to worrying a bit about the life of the battery over time, though, as heat is one of the things that causes premature aging in batteries.

- Blinkfeed. I thought I'd like it, that it'd be useful. I finally decided against it and went ahead and disabled it and installed one of my favorite launchers so I don't have to have it on an adjacent screen from the home screen. I may root the device just to tear it and other bloatware out. Haven't decided yet, being lazy enough to wait for a "one click root" method to show up. :p :D

That's it. This thing is amazing.. just "instant" in its operation from one task to another, not to mention the build/beauty of it. My kid just got her iPhone 5 and it looks pretty good, too (smaller), but I'd say the HTC One is the first Android phone to rival the overall solid appeal of the iPhones.

I've had the phone for a little over a week and am madly in love with it. I'm coming from an un-rooted Rezound, so I really love Google Now. A couple of days after I got the phone I left on a trip. Having the flight and rental car information in one place was pretty handy. It even had the directions to the hotel after the flight landed.

The phone is lightning fast and the call quality is great.

The camera is incredible. I'm still trying to get the hang of Zoe, but everything else is great. I love the front camera countdown and the panorama update. The color reproduction is pretty much spot on and the HDR is a big improvement from Rezound.

The battery life has been good as well. I bought a backup which I only needed once, and that was after 9 hours of heavy use, tons of photos, extended use of GPS and screen set on auto.

I also am enjoying the remote feature. It's a fun little app.

Lastly, thank you HTC for releasing HTC Sync for Mac. It's made transfering music and photos so incredibly easy.

So I had the chance to get rid of the evo 4glte and get the HTC one and I jumped on it :). So far the biggest downer is the location of the charging port grr. The biggest difference is the software since I just skipped two versions it'll take some time to get used to. But if you have any tips or anything I should look out for let me know! As of now I'll messing with this phone for the whole night lol

Alright, it was time to lay down the HTC Thunderbolt for good (I attempted to last year by moving to the iPhone, couldn't stand it, sold it and went back to the Thunderbolt).

I've had my One for a week and a half. I got the Blue One from Best Buy for Verizon. I love the screen, responsive, no dead spots, bright colors. Even with the auto dim, and in low light settings, it's seems to do well.

Build quality is excellent. My only complaint is it seems the blueness will take damage easily. I dropped it once from my hand to the pavement, luckily I put my foot out to cushion the blow, but got a ding on the corner (case was on order, hadn't arrived yet). Other then that, it is rather slippery in the hand. But otherwise, fantastic.

Sound quality is great. Watching YouTube videos on my lunch breaks with boom sound, my plant manager came to the table asking about it. Thought I had a speaker hooked up to it. It's nice and clear, and of course, loud. The speaker phone works great with this nice feature aswell.

All told, I love the phone, my favorite to date.

Sorry if this is old news - I did search the forum and found nothing obviously relevant.

Anyhow, I've installed the Google Experience launcher on my HTC One. It already had the required version of Google search, so only the com.google.android.launcher-0.9.6.886092.apk was needed. I think the GEL works very well on the HTC One. Obviously you don't get BlinkFeed, but then I didn't use that much anyway. The app drawer changes to the standard Google format, and I much prefer that. The notification bar remains the HTC standard bar, but I prefer this to the stock Android notification bar anyway. The end result is that my phone feels like a Google Edition model but with all the improvements made by HTC.

Just thought I'd say goodbye to the forum over here.

Been an android fan for awhile and owned many of them from the Atrix to the galaxy nexus to the HTC one and now the nexus 5.

I must say the HTC one was an amazing phone - incredible build quality - reasonably timely updates - useable sense features and solid battery life. Overall the best device I've ever owned. But the gadget whore in me has come out!

Today I'm saying goodbye as I've sold my HTC one and bought a nexus 5 - the fact that I was able to make money off the deal was a true testament of the value of the HTC One (or maybe that of the ridiculously cheap nexus).

Anyways I'll be creeping the nexus forum now.
