Root [International] Oh Dear big trouble

You're on a 4.4.2 bootloader and I'm not sure if you can downgrade that.

I would full wipe+format and go NBH all the way for bootloader, gsm, LTE and ROM.

Im working at the mo so basically your saying is fully upgrade everything 4.4.2 ,gsm, rom etc again but do it right this time?

Im off weekend and will try again hopefully with some help not mess up.;)

Doesn't rain but pour for me :(
Transferred most of my media from sdcard to internal on phone with no problem.
Downloaded all what i needed to flash the Echoe rom v18.
Just as was going to put the Rom into the internal memory of the phone a message on phone said unable to find software on your pc that can recognise your device.
Reinstalled Kies, then it asks for Kies 3 to be installed, again i installed it,still no good.i can delete fron internal mem but not put anything on it.
The message from kies says the device is not supported by Kies 3.
Updated all my windows updates also
still no good

OK webby62... in my role as trusty sidekick and warm up artist for Hawker...

Doesn't rain but pour for me :(

You can talk. We're entering our 4th month of floods here! :(

Transferred most of my media from sdcard to internal on phone with no problem.

Just wondered why you were transferring your media, etc; from external to internal storage. I usually recommend either putting the SD card into a USB card reader, plugging it into your PC and copying it to computer or, if you have Wi-Fi at home, you could install AirDroid - Best Device Manager, free from the Play Store, and use it to transfer files to and from your PC for safekeeping. You can also use MyPhoneExplorer on your PC in conjunction with MyPhoneExplorer on your phone. You can use this over Wi-Fi or USB.

Then, after copying your files to PC, you can format your SD card in the phone, under Settings > Storage before flashing a new stock firmware and then copy your files back to the SD card.

Downloaded all what i needed to flash the Echoe rom v18.
Just as was going to put the Rom into the internal memory of the phone a message on phone said unable to find software on your pc that can recognise your device.

See above for alternative ways of transferring info to and from PC and phone.

Yeah, Kies doesn't work for me either. Just check that you can still connect to Odin in Download mode so that you can flash a stock Samsung firmware before installing Echoe ROM.

EDIT: Drat! ninja'd by the old boy. Will shut up! ;)

Yes. So long as you install the stock KitKat firmware and then format your SD card and then copy your music back.

Go with Hawker's earlier suggestion of a stock firmware from SamMobile.

I really, really, am shutting up now!

I give up,put sdcard into card reader and went to format then it says cannot format this card unrecognised,so i went to use odin to flash kt kernel after extracting files to get the file to use and all odin can see is META.INFO and SYSTEM FILE. no tar file,i was hoping to flash phiz.then the lte modem,
too old for this i think i would like to go back to stock 4.3 if poss ,if not dont know what to do ..

Format the SD card in your phone, (Settings > Storage), after you have updated to KitKat, stock firmware.

so i went to use odin to flash kt kernel after extracting files to get the file to use and all odin can see is META.INFO and SYSTEM FILE. no tar file,i was hoping to flash phiz.then the lte modem,

I take it that you have already updated to stock, KitKat, firmware with a stock kernel and have rooted and now flashed Echoe ROM v12.1 which comes with its own modified kernel. The KT, AOSP, kernel is flashed as a .zip file in PhilZ custom recovery mode to replace the modified Echoe kernel. No extraction needed.

Here are the steps I suggest, laid out in order...

1. Back up everything on your phone/SD card

2. Factory Reset phone, (no SD card).

3. Flash, via Odin, the Samsung stock KitKat firmware and ensure it boots up. I suggest, stock unbranded UK firmware, i9505XXUFNB8

4. Format SD card in phone. N. B. If you do not want a rooted phone with a custom recovery, ROM and kernel, skip to item #8.

5. Root your phone and install PhilZ recovery as per the Rooting Galaxy S4 - Dummies Guide

6. Install the ROM of your choice by flashing .zip file in PhilZ recovery mode, following the developers instructions.

7. Install the KT kernel of your choice by flashing .zip file in PhilZ recovery mode.

8. Sync your phone to your Google account and download, Contacts, Calendar, apps, etc:

9. Copy your music, photos, etc; back to SD card.

Once you have flashed a stock KitKat firmware you cannot revert to Jelly Bean, 4.3.

Hawker... Feel free to amend, (he would anyway)

Have managed to put on KitKat, stock firmware,I9505XXUFNB8_I9505BTUFNB3_I9505XXUFNB8_HOME.tar.md5
and is working ok but storage cant find sd card so cant load Echoe rom tried putting on the internal memory and get this message the device has stopped working.

Have you done steps #4 and #5 prior to copying Echoe Rom onto SD card?

You said you reinstalled Kies.
This won't help your cause especially.

Remove everything to do with Kies, unplug your S4 from PC, then install the USB drivers ONLY.
I know you're going to ask, so as it's such a Sunshine Day, I shall do you a favour, so 'AV IT 'ERE!

Then connect S4 with ORIGINAL CABLE and let it windows go through its driver installation.

When everything claims to by dory hunky, see if you can then transfer the zip

When go to storage and format it says unrecognised file system,im going to buy another sdcard and see if the card is the problem then attempt to progess to Echoe Rom,i have tried copying echoe rom to internal mem but it says cannot copy item device has stopped working......

I had a similar problem on my s2, and it was indeed a fubared sd card, resolved by buying a new one. May not be the issue here, but worth trying

You're only a spring chicken old son! Syd often regales us with tales of the Queen's coronation... and how lovely Victoria looked. ;)

i would to donate a "beer"to you guys for help if you wouldnt be offended.

Thanks matey but really no need.
:ahhhhh:

I would like to point out to regular readers of this forum that Hawker has not been feeling himself lately... mainly due to the boxing gloves that matron makes him wear.

Seriously... as per #3.3 of the Rooting Galaxy S4 - Dummies Guide...

"IMPORTANT: You should now make a nandroid, Titanium and /efs file backups after rooting."

Make sure you keep a copy of these on your PC. These are your, "Get out of jail", cards.
