Help Stock emal app and Handcent with Kit Kat

I am on Verizon and just got the Kit Kat update. All seems to be working fine (a few apps I had to clear the cache to fix issues) but one issue I can't figure out. I use the stock email app for my work exchange email and Handcent for texting. Since the update, when I get a text, I get it in Handcent but it also goes to the stock email app which it never did before. I have Handcent as the default text app but I'm not sure why I'm getting the same text messages in the stock email app. I looked at the settings in both the stock email and messaging apps and they are not set up for sms/mms messages.

Anyone else face this issue or have any recommendations?

Thanks

Is Handcent set to send you every text as an email?

Nope. I havent changed any settings in Handcent since I upgraded to Kit Kat. I just checked the settings anyway and its not set to send as an email.

The issue is when I receive the email it goes to both handcent and the the stock email which is set to my work exchange account. My phone number isn't associated with my work email.
Very strange

I use Nitrodesk's Touchdown client so I can't really help you with the stock email app. But one thing I noticed is that Google Hangout wanted to know if it could become the default for the SMS app. So perhaps the updated stock email account has that option as well? Also, both SMS *and* email are seen in both programs? In your OP, you mentioned that the txts were going to the email app. In the follow, you said the reverse.

You're right, I did get that backwards. Texts are going to both Handcent and the stock email account not emails. As for Hangouts, I have sms disabled.
The stock email account does not have any options for text but Handcent did ask to become the default with the stock messaging and Hangouts as an option. I did select Handcent and I have gone back in to make sure its still default which it is.
