Root CM12.1 UNOFFICIAL RC5

My phone bricks attempting to install the BETA 1.

I'm going to retry again with gapps and see if that works, but it doesn't do anything when i reboot and just stays at the android screen. Yes I did factory wipe. Anything else could be it ?

I did the advance wipe and i check data, dalvik,cache and system. It worked for me

make sure the md5\s match up, could of been a bad download

I'm on butternoob, and i see some people are mentioning 'help'

is there anything i should be doing differently?

Like the other user said re-download the file and then check the md5 and make sure it matches the one in the original post. You can download an app from the play store called md5 checker and check it like that. If that isn't the problem then try booting into twrp>wipe>advanced wipe>select dalvik, data, cache, system>install CM>install gapps

Just a word of advice for those experiencing battery life problems or touchscreen issues. Calibrate the battery and touchscreen (there are apps for that). I haven't had a chance to run this ROM, but I can remember a time with my One M7 where a ROM was having touch issues and calibration fixed it, and creating a clean battery stats file has always been a custom of android ROM flashers, as you are dragging the old stats to a different ROM. There are conflicting feelings towards calibration and its true benefits, so YMMV, but from a person who endorses this, I say give it a try to see if it helps

Just reflash super user through twrp. Cm 12.1 is rooted you just need super user installed.

Not sure if anyone posted anything similar to these but i would like provide some files to achieve r/w permissions on CM 12.1 BETA 1. All credit goes to Masterchief87 as he made the files. all I did was replace the boot.img on both zips. This follows the same procedures as his files.

these links bring me to a page that contains the boot.img and recovery.img files but not the zip files you are referring to

i would double check the twrp version (there were two) and gapps version (there are many, i used the one from the CM12.1 wiki), then redownload all of them, including the ROM. have you installed butternoob successfully?

After creating a new battery stats.bin my battery life seems to have returned. Calibrate your battery after install folks.

Open developer options and turn on superuser.

Click were I have circled red. You might have to hover the mouse or touch on the top for the download button to appear.

Please Report any issues

Since no md5 sums have been provided I advise against using these zips. Without an md5 to check there is no way to make sure that the files are not corrupted. If you get a bad download and flash it, it could potentially brick your phone.

Edit: I am making these myself now so that I can know that it is done right.

After I make the zips I extract the images and flash them to make sure that they aren't corrupted, then I flash the zips after testing the images one at a time. Next I upload and then download them and compare the md5 for the downloaded zips to the originals. Then I extract the images from the downloaded zips and test them one by one then I finally flash the downloaded zips to be 100% sure that everything is good. After doing all of this I post the zips with the original md5 sums.

I got it to install and everything worked fine except data. which I see is the main issue atm. Ill just wait for it to be fixed ^.^

I am on metro pcs. Using krill zip mentioned in previous post my data is fine..

I seen it, but how would rooting fix the data? I can try it but yeah. I don't know!

I am also on metropcs as well.
