Anyone interested in the Style?

Ta.

It doesn't sound like a feature I'd use anyway. I only switch between inputs and control volume on my TV Remote, I use the Sky Remote for everything else.

I can understand it's usefulness though, you can't call a TV remote if it falls between the cushions/toddler puts it in the bathroom etc....

Yeah I never thought I'd use it and now I do a lot.

Bring up Netflix, cast to Chromecast, TV turns on. Pick up Yamaha audio remote that has no known codes...

And that's when I decided to give it a try.

Works great, adds to my TV laziness, and for me, that's the point lol.

Yeah IR Blaster is the one feature personally I don't ever intend on using. I know some people who do use it every now and again but not something thats a major factor in making a decision of buying a phone. So for me atleast I'm not fussed one bit.

I think the Style pretty much hits all the points that I was looking in a phone bar one ... removal battery but tbh thats pretty much a thing of the past now I feel (Minus G4) ... and with Turbo charge the style should be okay.

Are you going to get one then?

You're UK based (I'm presuming from the username, apologies if that's wide of the mark)? Do you know of any retailer that is doing this on contract?
Haha Yeah your right I'm from Newcastle.

At the minute I don't think anyone has said they will be selling it. I hope some do as I feel like I should hold it before I buy it. If not I'm going to buy one anyways.

I'm on a sim only plan with three so I'd buy it outright regardless.

Some sim only plans work out better you know? Esp with this phone being cheap.

Newcastle, thought as much. :)

Yeah, as sensible as a SIM only deal is in the long run, we just can't afford the initial outlay (even with something as cheap as this).

Aye a guess that is the only problem. It doesn't break the bank money slowly leaving the account.

Tbh I'd happily buy a contract but some of the contracts are disgusting these days. I pay £13 a month Sim only for Unlimted Data and 200mins so for me no contract is worth it.

My other half has a similar deal on Giff Gaff, £15 per month for much the same sort of bundle. She gets my hand me downs so it works out ok for her.

You always done it that way?

No, My S3 was my first contract and ever since I realised Sim Only makes sense esp with the rise of these contract prices. My contract was £26 a month for 2 years. Now you'd be luck to find anything under £30 with a free phone. Had a Sim only plan for the last 15months and its class.

But tbh at the time I couldnt afford to buy the S3 outright and it was my first real smartphone as beforehand all I had was hand me downs [emoji5] . Thank God for an older brother hahaha.

Plus nowadays any contract with unlimited data are a bump.

Ok I admit now I am having issues deciding between the Nexus 5 (2015) and the Moto X Pure Edition.

The Moto X has the screen size I want but the Nexus 5 will have the fingerprint scanner (thinking Android Pay here, unless you don't need a fingerprint to use it). The Moto X has the quick charge though.

Can we just combine the two devices :)

I can't imagine that you will HAVE to use it, that would leave a ton of folks out in the cold. Wallet (which will be Pay) certainly doesn't use it now and I just don't picture all but 2% (fingerprint enabled phones) of Wallet users with no way to use Pay when it rolls out. Maybe someday that will be the case, but not right away I shouldn't think.

Of course, what do I know :)

I registered my interest with this device with Clove this morning and received this about 15 minutes ago -

Thank you for registering your interest in the Motorola Moto X Style.

Whilst we are still a few weeks off the first units arriving into stock, we have today begun accepting pre-orders for the phone.

Whilst we are unable to confirm the exact arrival date in September, we can reveal that the Style will retail for £359.99 inclusive of VAT or just £299.99 excluding VAT.

Key features of this handset include a 21 megapixel camera, 5.7" quad-HD display, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage to name just a few.

To be amongst the first to own the Moto X Style, please follow the link below to pre-order the phone.

http://www.clove.co.uk/motorola-moto-x-style

Nearer the launch we will be in contact to confirm orders and advise of a more accurate shipping date.

Thank you for your interest.

The Clove Technology Sales Team.

Looks like they're stocking the White, Black and Bamboo variants and they all cost the same.

If I get my bro to buy this for me via his business account, £300 and the £18 a month SIM free deal EE offered me could be doable after all. :D

I'm interested. Using Samsung Note 4 now and wife uses Note 3. An very disappointed in Samsung doing away with the external SD card even thought I could get away with a 64 GB Note 5 for my needs.

Saw a post about the MotoX Free (Style) in the Note 5 Forum as and alternative to the Note 5. From what I am able to see from the Moto site this phone will do almost all the stuff I need it to do. That is all but one thing. I love the ability with the S-Pen on the Note 5 to hand write quick notes as reminders etc. And I do this using my handwriting instead of the on screen keyboard.

The other nice thing about the Moto X Free is just that "Free" no bloatware, no contract with a carrier and it is quite a be cheaper than the Note 5. My dilemma is losing the note taking capability of the Note 5 if I get the Moto X Free. Oh well, not a decision that I need to make right away.

I have a '14 X now and absolutely love it, loved the '13 as well. Honestly one of the best phones I've had.

I tried the N6 for a day, that thing was just too darn big for my girly hands. As much as I wanted to love it I just couldn't.

I'm really, really hoping this new one (Pure) will a better size for me, the '14 X is just about perfect so I'm a tad worried that this might still be too big.

I don't need a new phone but we'll see :D

Pretty much in the same boat. I am hoping the size isn't that much more than the moto x 2014 also. Reading through some of the hands on reviews is pretty encouraging. For the size they are saying is it very user friendly in the hand. Designed to feel a lot smaller than the actual size of the phone.
Will just have to wait for it to hit the shelves Sept 3rd and see if I agree.
Its either going to be the style or the LG G4. Both should be able to be rooted and have custom recoveries installed. Pretty sure the G4 already has both.
For the price of the Pure and what we are getting, I am pretty sure it would make the larger size a little more bearable though. Love that ebony back cover ! Added micro usb slot making it very appealing also. Stock Android and very fast software releases, improved camera, TFT LCD ? geeze, I think I just sold myself ! lol

Palm had that. I annoyed the Vulcan with it by changing channels back if he switched without asking me. One of the Palm app sites used to put out the codes to new TVs.

I could use that again. A Roku should be new enough.

I'm interested enough to follow all the news as TMO is messing with LTE bands and what's staying and what's going is confusing. TMO uses PCS, UMTS, and AWS. I'd buy an unlocked one. I don't want carrier bloat.
