Metro PCS Zmax Pro Software Update Z981v1.0.0B12?

So I see people posting firmware ending in B07 and B04 for the T-mobile variant, the Metro version came with B08, but I just randomly decided to check for a software update on a whim and found b12 is available for my phone, it's a 368MB download so not a tiny update. Does anyone know anything about it? Afraid to flash without knowing what to expect, but I'm sick of the phone softbooting 1-2 times a week and charging to 80-85% overnight then stopping sometimes, so if there's anything in this update that might fix that then I'm curious to flash it and see what I get.

Wow I did not know they got the update 2 days after my twitter rant. I was in vegas and I got the update notification on the 29th though. Oh well. Actually gave me an idea to ask when the nougat update is on their twitter accounts.

I just twittered them about Nougat update. Hoping for a fast result again.

Maybe they did coz some people that had no problems on their phone now have the problems that most people are biatching about - screen flickers. Which is odd coz the update did fix my screen flickers as far as I know.
I don't know but I have not experienced any screen flickering on 08.

That's just weird. But you did not even got a message that you have an update though? All those weeks?!! The only reason I know is coz I got a notify message on my phone. That actually shocked me coz we have been waiting for it for so long.

Also I kinda think my thanksgiving twitter rant help us get it soon. Like I feel like 4 days later, we got the update.

So now I am kinda planning on twitter ranting on Christmas day for Android N update. Maybe 4 days later I will have my long awaited nougat on my phone. :D

Thanks for the tutorial. I figured out that part. Just, the Data and Cache both say 0.0. There is nothing to clear.

Why don't you just factory reset it? Do you have anything important to lose? Just make sure to back it up. That is weird. I will use the zte chat support if I were you. I love using it. It is fast service. They will most likely tell you to factory reset in the long run.

I mostly google first what to do when I have problem and if google does not help I try their support. I know mostly what I am doing so I always end up on being advice to factory reset which is always the last resort.

My phone has re-booted for no reason TWICE since the patch. Bizarre. Anyone else having these random re-boots?
I've had one or two, but not really worried. Chrome has had some shutdowns... Now that is worrisome.

Or maybe the cause is that phone is running a bit warmer - but maybe Folio is culpable. Warmer is not really worrisome - it's not hot - BUT charging gets automatically slowed down by it AND battery is draining a bit faster.

Another thing I'm seeing is higher memory usage + the expected slowdown / freeze symptoms... higher Ping/slower browser responsiveness.

I'm mentioning all this as possibly related to / causing the problem you posted about.

I really dread this solution without root... and this after my phone app stopped working...
Reenter data for all banking /shopping/ eating /work /school /some browsers/etc. apps...

Well, I took out SD card, reset the phone (a big pain for me), and still nothing. But no FC's at all, and I'll live with having to occasionaly reset the data connection. I like the phone.

Just make sure you don't put back the SD card. Maybe in a day or two you will get the update notification or check it manually yourself. IF after 2 days you have no update. Something is really wrong with your phone. Removing SD card is the last resort for the update to install as far as I know.

Just can't believe some people got a lemon zmax pro from the get go though. It's bizarre.

What's an FC? About data connection, I think I link an APN setting for metroPCS here. I actually use it on my own phone. Or you can go to ZTE site to get the APN link.

After the update I actually was also losing connection I mean it looks I am connected to both my data and wifi but my browser acts like it is not connected.

What solved it is me turning airplane mode on and off. Then my browser is back in business.

Mine also shows no 0 data and 0 cache. After much thought I think I am going to ditch this phone and spurge on an axon 7. It has good audio out of the box and it has USB otg
Hopefully you'll check out the zteusa forums beforehand for unsolved issues:
without digging at all, there's no android pay, no twitter / fb videos. There's more than just these. Reminds me of the early Windows days - let's just release and let the customers debug.

Were we supposed to get Android Pay with the update without (supposedly) NFC capability?

This is the last time I am saying this coz people don't read before they post. IF you have SD card on your phone remove it. That is the last resort for the update to install as far as I know.

Go to ZTE official site in their forums or use their live chat support. One guy in their forum has step by step for those not updating and that involves removing SD card.

Or maybe just maybe ZTE stopped their OTA coz those that didn't have bugs on their phones got the dreaded screen flicker after they updated.

My screen flicker got fix but my battery drains fast now. After full charge, I don't charge my phone for days and now I am charging it again when I just fully charge it last night.

I really think they will update to Android N sooner than later though. They included that mbn thing that updates the firmware.

^ Except for the fact that I read the entire thread & never installed an SD card onto my device. I contacted ZTE and all I was told was the update was published by Metro and to keep checking. I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone knew why my phone wasn't picking up the update.

That's weird. If you have twitter, go to metrosupport twitter account and ask them. OR just call metro. Zte seem to always point their finger on metro though.

Yeah same here never received an update for b12 still on b08 I'm guessing metro might of pulled it.

i must have downloaded the 12 update a dozen times last week, but when i try to install the download, i'd be sent to the About Phone submenu in Settings. hitting "update" again would take me right back to the attachment page. with the 08 build i have now, i still occasionally get some odd flicker/video static for split seconds, but not as bad as when i had the FB app, Messenger and others downloaded. i nuked all non-essentials and turned off animations in Developer Options, and my Pro runs far more smoothly overall now. i desperately want Nougat tho because i want to correct the color temperature on my way too blue display, without screwing the gamma up at all.

btw hi all. :)
