ROOTING THE ZTE WARP 4G THE EASY WAY FOR NEWBEES (BEGINNERS)

Hi I am Steve (AKA Reble). I am writing this instruction doc in a way that I hope newbees to Android like me that have a background in other operating systems can understand how to root this phone.

Disclaimer: The responsibility for using this tool falls only on you. I have used this tool and it works. BUT STILL USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

This is an alternate method for installing CWM Recovery on the ZTE Warp 4G. No root required, just flash CWM, then flash a rooted ROM. It is a Live CD based on SliTaz Linux. It features adb and fastboot setup and working so there are no Windows drivers to mess with. It comes with and installs the standard CWM Recovery or Stock Recovery. It is a 32-bit OS so it will work on all PC's including Mac.

How to use:
1. Download the Warp 4G CWM Flasher Beta 3 image at https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319202297 (52MB) to your computer.

2. Download the SuperU.zip at http://androidforums.com/attachments/beta-supersu-v2-51-zip.96466/ the root dir of the plugin SD card in the phone

3. Burn the ISO to a CD using your favorite cd burning software.

4. Boot your computer to the cd drive (you may need to adjust boot settings in BIOS)
5. Once booted to the desktop, double-click the Warp 4G CWM Flasher icon

6. Click OK on root request popup

7. Follow onscreen instructions.

8. The picture bellow is the Slitaz desktop

9. Right click the mouse on Warp 4G CWM Flasher

10. Left click the mouse on Execute. The Slitaz password box will pop up. Just click OK.

11. CWM Recovery is now installing.

1 2. Now that CWM is installed. Go to your phone screen and you will see the following menu.

CWM Based Recovery v6.0.3.7
Reboot system now.
Install ZIP.
Wipe Data/factory reset.
Wipe cache partition.
Backup and restore.
Mounts and storage.
Advanced.
To move up and down use the phones volume controls and the phones power button as enter.

Scroll down the menu to Install ZIP and install the SuperU.zip file that is on the root dir of the plugin SD card.

Run an App like RootChecker on the phone. If everything was done right RootChecker will report phone status as ROOTED.

Note: This does not install anything or change anything about your pc. It runs exclusively off the CD and will not harm your computer.

Note2: The ISO can be used to make a bootable usb flash drive using a tool such as Unetbootin http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ . Your pc must have the ability to boot to usb devices (mac pc's do not). Here is a link http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/#install that explains how to do it. If you are using windows, step 1 and 3 apply to you ;)

Note3: While this is booting, you may see a lot of text moving very quickly. This is normal. You will get to a GUI with mouse very shortly :)

Note4: If the script hangs or fails in any way, do the following:

Close the script.
You will probably need to unplug and do a battery pull.
Boot back into Android.
Plug phone into a different usb port (sounds silly I know).
Run the script again.
If none of your usb ports work, you will need to try it on a different computer.

Thanks to:
junkie2100 - For giving you the gift of CWM and for the original DOC.

OPPS I made a goof that mite be confusing. Line 5 reads "5. Once booted to the desktop, double-click the Warp 4G CWM Flasher icon". Whitch confict's with line " 9. Right click the mouse on Warp 4G CWM Flasher" then line 10 "10. Left click the mouse on Execute. The Slitaz password box will pop up. Just click OK." Double left clicking the Warp 4G CWM icon on the Slitaz desktop does nothing. Unlike Windows. I don't know about the full Linux OS as to whether it has dbl left click to start a prog. But this Sliaz setup doesn't have the dbl left click available.
