    S10 - no mobile data!

My S10 on Verizon (via PagePlus) worked perfectly until recently... It stopped displaying SMS and MMS, and then lost mobile data entirely. Everything else seems to be fine. Conversations with PagePlus customer service (in Mumbai, I think!) produced various combinations of instructions, including...

    Help 3G problem

This S3 (9300) is unrooted and flashed to PagePlus, which is on the Verizon network. I've installed Apex as a launcher. There's no SIM (so no 4G/LTE). It works well in every respect - EXCEPT: It doesn't automatically use 3G in the absence of WiFi, and even when 3G is working it's quite slow...

Root Time to RE-ROM, and need handholding

This DX has been wonderfully stable for a long, long time - and in my 8th decade it's understandable that I've forgotten how it got to its current state, which is: 4.0.4 Rooted (with Pete's, IIRC) Gummy Shadow 1.2.0 Operating on Verizon, via PagePlus (prepay) Functionality is perfectly...

    GPS maps outside the U.S.

This DroidX is rooted, with Gummy 1.2.0. Works fine on PagePlus (uses Verizon's network). I'm going overseas for a couple of weeks, and though it won't work as a "phone" I'd really like to use it as a GPS. How can I get maps into the system in the EU, Israel, etc? Thanks!

Root DX, ICS, Gummy - how to suppress Bluetooth connect sounds

When this phone is in the car and connects with its BT, it starts chiming every 15 seconds indication a BT connection, etc. The only way to stop it is to (1) Swipe down the notification bar and (2) hit the X. Car is a new Chevy Volt. Problem did not exist a few days ago... Annoying. What can...

    Root Gummy and wifi issue

Rooted X works great with ICS 4.0.4 and Gummy 1.2.0, but occasionally the WiFi won't turn on unless I reboot. Can't find any doc on this. ???

Do you *USE* speaktoit or Google Speech?

I just set up my X with ICS, Gummy, and Apex, and it's like a brand new state of the art phone - so obviously I want to improve it... In the past 1.5 years I've tried Android's speech control functions - but never found them to work reliably enough to be more than a novelty. That was then...

Root Jelly Bean or ?? for the Droid X

My rooted X is so solid/stable/effective that I've completely forgotten how to change ROMs or make any other tweaks. Well, I'm halfway through my 8th decade, so forgetting is pretty normal. But the grass is always greener, and I'd like to try something new. IIRC, I pick a ROM, store it...

    Root Keeping Calendar in sync

Rooted X, so reliable and perfect that I've forgotten how to troubleshoot! Calendar is no longer syncing unless I do it manually. ???

How do I get rid of CAR DOCK ???

My rooted Droid X is terrific, BUT: Frequently, when it is turned on it displays an unnecessary and annoying thumb-friendly grid by what appears to be CAR DOCK. The screen is divided into 8 squares, the lower right of which is CLOSE - and there is no other way to get rid of it. The Prefs aren't...

    Root Would you believe a "Semi-Root" ???

Droid X, "rooted" via Pete's. Stable, fast, good battery life - overall, it's excellent. Root is confirmed by Root Check, Titanium, and other apps that require root access. HOWEVER: Superuser 3.0.5 is installed, but does not appear on app list. Market says it's installed and lets me Open it...

Root Can't get to recovery menu... ???

DX, rooted with Pete's, original Moto ROM. Working brilliantly - fast and solid, with great battery life. According to various criteria, it's definitely rooted. I'd like to do a nandroid, BUT: When I use QUICKBOOT or ROM MANAGER to get to the Recovery Menu, the result is the Android Digger...

Accessories Did ZAGG make you pay twice?

I had problems with a Zagg product, and after dialog with their CSR returned it. I gave a credit card number so if they did not receive the original, they could charge me for the replacement. An acquaintance said "Send it by certified mail, as they have a habit of AUTOMATICALLY ignoring ordinary...

Help DroidX: How do I turn 3G ON/OFF?

DroidX, LauncherPro+ Going from Verizon to PagePlus I have limited Mobile Network access and it's metered ($$), so obviously I'll mostly use WiFi. But how do I turn Broadband ON and OFF on the DroidX? Settings>Wireless>Mobile Networks just gives "System Select", a choice of CDMA system: Home...

    Root "...granted Superuser..."

DroidX rooted via Pete's, original ROM Too often, a root-only app runs only after two tries. When I tap the icon the first time, it wants Superuser permission. Permission is granted, then the app works properly. Sometimes it's just part of the app. For example, the brilliant Button Savior works...

    Root NoBrainer root+optimization

I came from a rooted Eris, then Incredible with several ROMs, so had a little experience when switching to the DroidX. Here's my take on it as a DroidRookie. Pete's is by far the simplest and easiest root, with the simplest and easiest explanation - it's a truly brilliant piece of work. Don't...

What I like LEAST about the Droid X...

Coming from the Incredible, it's easy: I dislike the hardware buttons for HOME, MENU, RETURN, SEARCH. Surely some will comment on the absence of the trackball, speakerphone audio performance, battery life, or [unrooted] Motorola's blurry quirks. But for me, it's those hardware buttons... I...

The worst speakerphone I've ever heard

I'm a reasonably experienced (and happy!) Androider - Eris, then Incredible, Galaxy Tab, and now a freshly rooted Droid X. The DX is the best cellphone I've ever known, but the speakerphone function is horrible - tinny, screechy, with no midrange. It's like listening to a tweeter... Side by...

    Root Xrookie rooted, what's next?

No problem rooting my little Eris and then the Incredible, and finding useful ROMs for them. But the Droid X? I used Pete's for the no-brainer root, and Titanium Pro to freeze unwanted crapware. So far, so good. It's now time to play with ROMs. With earlier phones I just put candidates onto the...

Help Eris touchscreen doesn't work properly

Eris, unrooted, firmware 2.1 This is a "retread" Eris from craigslist, bought as a mini-tablet (wifi only). It's cosmetically fine, BUT: The touchscreen is wonky. For example, in MARKET, nothing will make the little magnifying glass in the upper right corner do anything. And the keyboard isn't...

Help Back to the Eris - I NEED HELP

This is a craigslist Eris in new cosmetic condition. It worked perfectly before I wiped the previous owner's private data. However, on boot it now goes to the Language screen, then to the "Activate or Emergency" screen -- I cannot get further. Pressing Home, etc. does nothing. It's never been...

WOW! I just bought an Eris (again). Here's why...

Had an Eris more than a year ago, went to Incredible, then Droid. We're on PagePlus, which is terrific for our usage. But phones break, get lost, etc. And we have guests from overseas. I just found an Eris on craigslist for $25. It looks new, came in a box, and is already rooted. PagePlus...

    Root Dialer trouble

Dinc rooted. Skyraider 4.1 - stable, fast, good battery life, and everything works fine. HOWEVER... When I listen to a voicemail, too often I cannot press "7" to delete a message. The dialer acts as though I'm trying to dial out. FURTHER... When I'm calling, and the phone goes dark, I often...

Root Got Skyraider, but is the grass really greener?

This Dinc runs fine on Skyraider 4.0. It's stable, fast, has excellent battery life, and everything works. But there are lots of ROMs out there, constantly evolving, and this has gone from a phone to a hobby. I cannot help but ask "What's next?"

    Help Deleting gmails from phone

It looks like there are only two ways to erase the hundreds of emails on my phone: 1. One by one, using the checkbox on the left 2. On my main computer, batch-archiving en masse Isn't there a way to batch-archive emails from the phone?
