Anti-Virus on GSIII Yay or Nay?

I am new to android, and I will admit I did not do as much research on the os as I should have. To all those familiar with it, do you guys recommend using an anti-virus program like lookout or avast? I see that some websites recommend the use of them. Please help.

Nay for now, but if many people are using it, I might consider using it too. I just don't see the point for using antivirus for now.

As long as you're installing Google Certified apps from the Play Store and not randomly downloaded apps off the internet you'll be fine.

Avast because of its anti theft features and remote command, not for its anti virus

Dr Web Light (Beta) seems like the best option ive tried.
Its light weight on the battery, only pops up in the notification bar when needed & has anti theft features.

Avast used too much battery & the icon was annoying.

Also Dr Web has caught out a few ad-tracking virus's from legit apps bought from the playstore.

I do not use anti-malware applications. I also follow the guidelines for installing apps that are mentioned in this thread: http://androidforums.com/android-ap...explained-security-tips-avoiding-malware.html

I've yet to see any malware on any Android device I've owned because of it, too. (I've owned 3 phones and 1 tablet)

Not for me. These virus software makers are preying on our fear! VERY little out there right now and the software will suck both resources and battery

I have the AVG on both my SG3 and Note and I love how it automatically scans any new application that I install on my devices but I'm baffled how/if smartphones can get infected like the PC's. I'm not techie, so....
