Root downloaded driver but wont connect

I searched the Epic forum and could not find a solution to my problem. I downloaded the one click root for my epic but cant use it because my computer says that my usb device has malfunctioned and cant read it. I have hard reset my phone and that didnt fix a thing. I am not sure what to do about it. I have no reason to root my phone other than it would give me full control of it and to use wifi app. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Try a different USB Cable and/or a different USB port on the computer.

Ya most definitely try another cable. The guys over at xda are finding the stock cable is the culprit more so then the drivers lately, and that also has been the same in my experience as well.
