FireFox Google search sucks

I've been trying to customize firefox to my liking as well and I've found a few things.

For my Android smartphone, I was able to get my google search results to use the android version by switching my "User Agent" to "Android (Nexus One)" via the "Phony" add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/addon/phony/?src=api). Not sure I'll leave it this way all the time, but it did work for me.

From my Xoom I really just wanted the "classic" search results and not the mobile version. Changing the user agent didn't do much because I believe the search add-on in Firefox is explicitly requesting the mobile results. To work around this I just installed a different Google search add-on from: Mycroft Project: Google Search Engine Plugins - Firefox & IE8. The top Google search in that list did exactly what I want and I just disabled the integrated one.

Hope this helps.

I really hate to bring back such an old thread, but I have resolved the issue!
Do the following:
1. Type about:config into the url bar on firefox mobile
2. Search "keyword" (without quotes)
3. Tap "Modify" underneath "keyword.url
4. Enter the following:
http ://www.
google .com/search?&q=
(remove spaces)
5. Click "Ok"
6. Your welcome :)
