i did the factory reset and followed the procedure outlined in the stick thread
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-sup...how-fix-froyo-gingerbread-any-rom-update.html
but the phone wouldn't update the PRL? its been 01115 for as long as i can remember
i did it mainly because my battery life went from moderately OK to flippin HORABLE after the update, and because i was getting some of the other glitchy stuff here and there, phone is less glitchy now after the reset, but the battery life is still horrible! i was using green power free before but now the app says it can only control the wi-fi? because of the update? PS i am not a very phone/ tech savvy guy so don't beat me up too bad if I'm missing something, thx
I sorta did mine like that link you posted except I reset to factory like this:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-tips-tricks/280082-major-solution-fix-your-slow-3g-speeds-evo4g.html
& things are going well for me post reset.
I interpreted the direction as follows & you may want to give it a try to fix all of your ills not just speed:
1) Hard reset
2) Update Profile
3) Cancel out & DO NOT update PRL
4) Pull Battery
5) Restart
or
Reset > Update Profile >Cancel PRL update > pull battery > Reboot
I am continuously now getting "low on space." I have nothing except pandora and whatever "bloatware" sprint has on there. Anyone else?
LOL,Funny I was just about to post mine too, so here goes... So after doing some research and making sure I backed up all my apps and data. (Using Mybackup pro, works really well and simplistic), I went ahead and did it, and did a factory/hard reset to my EVO phone.
Now after reading a lot of the other post of the problems people were having I have to say I was pretty fortunate not to have all those problems. I got the Netflix one( Netflix has to fix), I also had the dreaded voicemail, and I never really seem to see a boost in battery life. So those where really my only complaints I had after I updated my phone to GB.
After I did the SCAREY hard reset, I reinstalled Mybackup Pro and restored all my data and my apps... I also did an update on my PRL and Profile, and cleared my internet cache as well. So far the phone seems to be running smoother and I am no longer getting the dreaded voice mail alert, I am now charging my phone and I'll report back to see if my phone is getting better battery life. Now mind you I do use my phone a lot and I browse the internet and play games, so I know I will drain my battery faster than most of you, but hopefully it will get a little better, but I am not to concened about battery life since I have as changer at home and at work and in my car. : )
I'll let you guys know how it went!
EDIT: Ok just started to download a 30 meg file on 3G, and it seems to be going a lot faster prior to the hard reset. So, so far the hard reset worked out great for me.

Just curious, does MyBackup Pro maintain all settings and app data/game progress? The only time I've ever used MyBackup Pro was when I had a rooted Hero and the restore NEVER worked because I was always going from one ROM to another. That being said, a perfect restore was never expected, but I was curious as to whether or not it will actually back up and restore EVERYTHING if you are stock and will remain stock.
USE astro to back up your apps. (I also moved as many as possible to to phone)Anyone have a problem with their SD Card after the update. I have started and restarted my EVO and it will not recognize my SD Card.
Any suggestions?
USE astro to back up your apps. (I also moved as many as possible to to phone)
COPY contents of sd card to PC
Erase contents of sd card.
Restart phone After this you can reinstall items all at once from PC... Or only selectively.
This worked for me.
After getting everything back to order, you may need to uninstalled an reinstall an app or two. But so far I haven't had to unmount/remount or reload media once. And my stock gallery is working flawlessly.
Forgive me if this has been covered. Since I and my wife updated to gingerbread when exit certain applications it takes us to a white htc screen and then "loading." This slows down the ability to use the phone considerably. Is there a work around or is this just now a known issue? Been searching the forum for answers but I must not be using the right search terms.
No Mybackup Pro doesn't save your game settings or game data but it does saves your sence pages and Icons... Mostly what it does is back up any settings you might have such as calendar appointment and contacts and back ups your apk file as well as your playlist and also you pictures. So once I did a hard reset, I re downloaded mybackup pro and restorered all my apps and my calendar appointments back to the way they were before the hard reset, but you will lose any saved game data that was sitting on your internal memory.
Now for a quick update...
Since the hardreset my phone is still running smooth, and it looks that I am getting a little bit better battery life. My phone was sitting on my charger at work until 5pm, and then when I left work until I got back to work this morning it has been off the charger. I did some texting and internet browsing and also played a few games on and off yesterday, until I went to bed.
When i woke up this morning, (the phone still not being on a charger, I was at 50% batter life, so it does seem that the hard reset did help with battery life. Oh and one other thing... The voice mail icon still hasn't come back since the hard reset, so I think that got fixed to. So I am VERY pleased that I did the hard reset/ factory reset.
I would like to thank EARLYMON for the info and the instruction on doing a factory reset.
Thanks!
Well, the game data doesn't really concern me, personally, as much as actual settings of the phone and applications. There is nothing worse than having to go into each app and set up settings the way you had them.
I guess that is my biggest question. Does My Backup Pro restore those settings in applications, as well as on the phone? For instance, will it restore the frequency I want "News and Weather" and "Stocks" to update? Will it restore the ringtone I have set for my wife? Etc.....
Also, after restoring apps, do they show in the Market under the "My Apps" label?
To answer your questions... Yes and NO, Will it keep the settings on your apps... No, will it restore the ringtone for your wife... I don't think so, Will your apps be there in the market place under "My Apps"... Yes
What Mybackup Pro does is only keeps the APK files, so when you restore you apps, it going to restore a clean app of the program you had, so it will only do that, not keep settings within the app. In regards to a specific ring tones I don't think so, because I think thats an internal memory function, so when you do a factory reset, it's going to wipe all ring tones that are specific to your contact.... Hmmm yet it does back up your contacts, and in your contacts you can add a specific ringtone, so maybe it might save the ring tone.
If you decide to do a hard reset let me know if the ring tones stay when you do a restore.
