" launching SW Update"
"Unpacking KDZ"
"kdz decrpyt error"
"Extract file error"
"====Finished===="

Are you in emergency mode????

On unrooted stock Motion to upgrade from

Factory software 77010c to 77010d -there was a download that was just about 30 megs .

Still clocks at 1.5 Ghz .

But is it possible to just load software 77010c back again ?

Should be a small 25 to 30 called

77010c ?

Is this possible to just click

"launch software update" ?

will the phone restart itself after we do this? I got KDZ decrypt error & extract file error & then finished, what did I do wrong? I'm in download/emergency mode, converted the cab into KDZ right & everything, downloaded all the drivers, put the phone into emergency mode and then connect it to the PC & I still get the errors, whats the problem?

Yeah my phone decided to brick tonight after powering off, and this took care of it. It rebooted, and it kept me rooted! I powered it off again to see if I would get the security error again, and nothing, boots normally. Unfroze my apps though with Titanium Backup.

I have MetroPCS with 4G...

  1. will I lose 4G if I install the stock rom?
  2. I noticed someone volunteered their serial number to get this ROM... will that somehow screw up my settings with MetroPCS? (Will I be able to upgrade ROM, have issues connecting to their network, etc.)

This has been confirmed to work :D

Right now it is likely that anyone here will brick due to the phone having a secured bootloader. Flashing this firmware is your best shot at fixing any brick from removing stuff with root permissions.

Another thing I know is that some phones have been clocked at 1.5 GHz and others clocked at 1.2 GHz.
If your phone was clocked at 1.2 GHz, this firmware will clock you at 1.5 GHz!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a good thing :D

-Confirmed here: http://androidforums.com/motion-4g-...t-getting-back-stock-kdz-wip.html#post4902686

This firmware link is from a serial number of an LG Motion 4G clocked at 1.5 GHz. None of us know if LG made two separate firmwares with some phones clocked at 1.2 and others at 1.5 or if phones that came with 1.5 was a simple typo by LG. So this firmware WILL clock you at 1.5GHz

Instructions:
Download firmware from here: Official Motion 4G MS77010c_03 Firmware - Android Forums
Download the programs to convert and flash firmware: KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.zip

How to get into emergency mode:
Hold Power+Volume Up+Volume Down
To get out of e-mode, pull battery (do not do this while flashing firmware!)

Thanks to DarkStarONE for how to enter emergency mode.

Before you start flashing firmware, please make sure you charge your battery for at least 30 minutes.

These are the instructions to convert the cab to a KDZ and flashing it:

  1. Install phone drivers (LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN37AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.7.2.exe)
  2. Install msxml.msi
  3. Disable antivirus software
  4. Open UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe
  5. Wait for the program to open
  6. Look for "Encrypt cab file to kdz file"
  7. Click the folder icon
  8. Choose the location of the cab you downloaded for MS770 firmware
  9. Encrypt cab -> kdz Program will freeze up. DO NOT EXIT until program says Done!!! Otherwise it won't finish converting.
  10. Close program
  11. Open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
  12. "Type" choose CDMA
  13. Choose in "Phonemode": Emergency
  14. Click the folder icon and choose the kdz file that UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe just made.
  15. Click Launch software update and enjoy!

Ways to get into recovery mode are unknown by me currently. If you have info on that, it would be appreciated to share it :)

Please tell me if recovery is an automated recovery or not.

Automated recovery:
Shows an android and a loading bar on the bottom and automatically reboots into phone when done.

Non-automated recovery:
Gives you options to:
  • Reboot
  • Apply update.zip
  • Wipe data (Factory Reset)
  • Wipe cache

Phones don't fix themselves.
Please donate.

Thanks for the video tutorial, but can someone verify that I won't have issues connecting to the metropcs network after doing this? Thanks

You won't have any issues, otherwise I would have said so in OP.

This didn't work for me. After running the wrong root kit to get root, chrome had stopped working and my camera had stopped working... similar to another poster here.

Unfortunately, this unbricking process never worked for me either. Even with a 60% charge, the phone kept rebooting half-way thru the process.

What eventually unbricked the phone for me was a factory reset.

I think the bad root kit was the problem and may have installed a /data app that made the phone freak out. /data apps are only cleared out by factory resets.

What its the cab that i apparently downloaded?

Choose the location of the cab you downloaded for
MS770 firmware

Is the cab the MS770 Firmware? I open that with the apk program? I can't watch videos after bricking my phone or view pics
Open system backup test on phone statys on Welcome Screen nothing else happens is that what it is supposed to do
Can't find any file with cab extension to convert i would take a ss but after brick i can't use screen shoot.

UPDATE I'm just going to fo a factory reset i can't wait days and days to fix it my wife is already asking questions.

You do everything with a PC...not with a cell phone

This is for the thread op. Im unsure if this was answered in a previous post but to enter automatic recovery/ factory reset. I believe you have to power off the phone. Hold down both the down and power button at the same time, let go and start pressing the back button repeatedly untill it begins resetting.

Carrying on:

I dont wish to reset my phone at the moment but if someone tries it successfully, put a post up.

With that as a recovery manager, there even more of a need to get CWM on here. I wonder how much longer it going to be until they unlock the bootloader.

This is unrelated to the post, but if anyones done the update here, could you tell me if it factory reset it too or was all the aps you had installed along with your settings and data in tact. Im certain the update would only alter the system directory.

You are correct it only modifies the system whether you do OTA or via KDZ. Also I think KDZ is a better update method than OTA. Nothing gets erased either way.

Thanks i assume youre only referring to an update via kdz not a reflash of stock as per this thread.

Reflash of stock as well.

Reflashing original firmware can fix a lot of problems. Zip OTAs tend to cause problems because of:
1) bad download (even if there are signature checks)
2) bad optimization

Companies today try to do the best they can to make sure nothing bad will happen to a phone by flashing an OTA, but it's not as well tested as flashing firmware from a computer.
Also the ZIP 10d OTA is only around 30 MBs while the KDZ 10d firmware is over 566MBs. So you choose your update method. IMHO, updating via KDZ is more reliable and less likely to cause future issues.
