Thought I'd introduce myself - seeing as I'll no doubt be frequenting these forums and picking the minds of all you android techies out there. I'm actually quite new to the whole mobile phone thing... I have avoided them like the plague for several years. By no means am I a technophobe (I'm a software developer with a number of years experience, and I'm a bit of a gadget freak by nature) it's just that aside from making calls I never really saw the attraction of them. Sure I've had a few over the years but there was nothing that interested me. I "almost" bought into the whole iPhone craze - mainly out of interest from a development perspective but the level of control and requirements they exert over the whole thing put me off as at least initially I only wanted to see what was possible and didn't fancy spending a fortune on a new mac, signing up and paying for the developer program only to find that my ideas may not fully pan out. After seeing the vids and stuff for the N1 though I took notice of what is possible on a mobile phone. Finally there was something that made me think "I really need that" So, in a few short days I'll take delivery of my shiny new HTC Desire - the first mobile phone I have bought with my own money in 9 years and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Will no doubt be playing around with the development kit over the next few days as well - then the fun will really start.
