How to access phone contact list on google account

I'm using samsung galaxy s 4g T959W & i want to access my phone directory on my google account or how I can back up my contact list to my google account. If you can give instruction in details that would be great. thanks.

Hi there Bob and welcome to Android Forums.

Go to Contacts > Menu > you should see an option to merge with google account, but if not you should see an option to move contacts and you should see to move them to your google account. Hope this helps.

EDIT: I think they may be synced automatically to your google account and you can check by going to google.com/accounts.
